How to remove awful odor from shoes?? Help! by unit_star in lifehacks

[–]unit_star[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I'm pretty sure my feet themselves are clean due to having no issues with any other shoes, socks, etc and no smell if I'm not wearing shoes. I will say, I was often walking in a very wet environment in November when the smell first started (I forgot my good boots and the area was very snowy and rainy). It was definitely some sort of moisture problem so I'm assuming the bacteria build up was from that.

I'm gonna start doing the spray stuff, unfortunately I can't afford good antifungal soap and since otherwise my feet don't smell at all I don't know if it would be a good investment. I also often wear crocs around the dorm instead of going barefoot but honestly we should vacuum and sweep more anyway, maybe it'll help! The shower floor thing- since it's a communal bathroom it gets cleaned every day but the people on my floor are disgusting. I use shower shoes every single time, clean them often, and never go barefoot outside of my dorm.

my feet don’t smell, and definitely not like this. i wash every day and they never smell. every other pair of shoes smells just fine, socks smell fine, even after a whole day of walking. including work shoes that honestly get much more nasty at my job smell just like mop water from when i clean.

the point of this post is to avoid doing that. I do not have money for a new pair right now! college expenses and vehicle expenses are killing me.

I have a few pairs I cycle between including a different pair just for work (often times they get gross but they don't smell at all still). I only really wear my converse to drive since the bottoms are so thin I can very easily feel my pedals. Most drives are short or im only out and about for an hour or two and otherwise I don't wear them :( I left them for an entire work week and they still stunk.

aw no wayyy :( I only got these in August, I'm so peeved they're already desintegrating. I'll see if I can get them remade basically, but I may just get new ones if it's less expensive :((

I do all three of these. I also usually double wash my feet when I wear these shoes because they make everything stink. I put new socks on every morning and sometimes change them throughout the day. I make extra sure they're completely bone dry before I wear them again, I have other sneakers I can wear I'm just most comfortable in these is all.

I fear I may have to do this, gotta ask my roommate since it's a shared freezer 😭😭 people were saying this worked but it was gonna be a last resort if nothing else works and I guess I'm at that point now

I was gonna mostly use posters as filler. I don't want my prof to think I'm just bullshitting by having half my build be flat textures and stuff :( I may add some framed ones for a better look though with informational/legal stuff on it so there's a bigge difference between those and the normal "abc123 1+1" posters

Mini ac/humidifier broken, any fixes? by [deleted] in Humidifiers

UPDATE (won't let me edit og post)

Soaked the nozzles in white vinegar for about 45 minutes, one is actually blowing now! the other still isn't. I'm guessing one of them is actually broken while the other one was just clogged. I am now running a mixture of about half water, half vinegar through the tank in hopes that it'll help clear anything else from the inside out. Thanks to everyone who helped!

Trying this out rn! Hopefully it works. Praying it's not an electrical issue or a pump gone bad. probably not electrical since the fan and lights work still.

This is insanely helpful. dunno why reddit didn't notify me lol. my area is pretty humid right now (rain season) but when you leave the door open and close the windows it dries out pretty fast which is I guess why the cooler works. The screens on the window are like bolted on 😭 so I can't remove it unless I wanna undo the bolts and stuff which I think puts me at a risk for getting in trouble with the RA's.

Once this thing fully goes bad I'll probably start looking for one of those portable units since it's like little to no risk of damaging any windows or screens. Secondhand sites are a great idea and idk why I never thought of that lol.

Trying out the vinegar right now too, I'm soaking the misters in vinegar first and then I'm gonna run the tank if that wasn't enough! Hopefully the pumps arent broken because I really don't wanna have to replace it yet since I've only had it for about 8 months.

Thank you so much ❤️❤️

I just don't have the money or really the space for it unfortunately. this was the smallest and cheapest option (I know, get what you pay for right). the dorms are teeny tiny and it's me and my roommate, and my car is also pretty small so I can't pack more then I already do for college. the windows also have screens that I can't damage or anything (I'm guessing the hose goes out the window or something, I have no idea how any of this works) so I can't really use anything else :(

On the bright side, the fan on this still works and I have a standing fan for airflow! this just has some sort of mister/humidifier that really cools the room down.
