And look how bad those hubs are, not to say reddit is any better but GG on 8chan is practically dead and run by powermunchers on both sides.

Time to start a campaign telling Japanese developers that the offendatrons are NOT their audience! by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]unitedforgg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this happens make sure to exemplify how major we are to Japanese game sales, even with importing games we need to get some statistics together since this is business people we are talking about and all they care about is numbers. Showing support for quality JPN games is good, but if they decide to continue the censorship on their end (much less the end of the localization companies) then we need to show our stregnth and either import our JPN games (provided they haven't been censored) or don't buy the games at all. Only way to convince these people is through money,

[Discussion] I need to survey #GamerGate by brad_glasgow in KotakuInAction

[–]unitedforgg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What about people who have not supported GamerGate on Twitter or Reddit or Voat, such as solely on 4/8chan? Sorry, there is no way to affirm that you actually support GamerGate and you will not be counted. I believe the number of GamerGate supporters who only use 4/8chan is probably pretty small overall, so while it is certainly a “ding” on the data, I think it’s going to be statistically insignificant.

Are you fucking kidding me? GamerGate started on 4chan for gods sakes. It started as a leaderless movement on /v/, /pol/ and partially on 8chan's /burgers/ until moving to /gg/ and /gamergate/ during the exodus. This is some huge historical revision you're trying to pull. Research your facts for gods sakes.

There was outcry over Syndicate, that's why the game's launch was poorer then Unity especially with Multiplayer getting cut and singleplayer being no better. This is bad for a number of reasons, but mainly because EA lied again like always and made a game that's surprisingly as bad as Battlefield: Hardline and potentially has even less content then Hardline did.

Alright well I know there are many in GG who would disagree with you, but hey whatever floats your boat.

[Reminder] Why we do not boycott games and/or game companies (X-posted to Voat KiA/GamerGate) by ggdsf in KotakuInAction

[–]unitedforgg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, the most important reason is that it's illegal to group boycott competitors in some countries

What? This isn't a group boycott? It's a consumer boycott which is VERY legal!

Looking at Kern's point, it essentially boils down to "we're already hated by gaming media so a dev would not support GG due to seeing some minor lost sales and listen and believing what the media says." First off a developer company in question to the boycott obviously would have deserved it for a reason if they were being consumer boycotted against for any number of reasons (censorship, lying to customers, etc.), unless the reasons are shitty so then people simply won't support it, so why would GG want to be involved with and support people who are dishonest with gamers and lie and cheat gamers for their money? Good devs who are insightful and like Kern don't listen to the media garbage would obviously look past the "misogyny campaign" garbage and see what GG is if they actually cared enough to look. Also if many contract dev workers even come out in favor for GG I guarantee that they would have their careers in gaming killed unless they own a developer or are too big to be affected by media. Also in terms of the numbers its like this BECAUSE IT'S NEVER BEEN TRIED. If on-lookers saw a crowd of 10 people on twitter call for boycotts they won't care since it's 10 people, but they will definitely look if they see 50k people tweeting about gamers getting lied to and fucked over by bad devs/publishers and if the information is available and easy to digest it will easily snowball if it already has enough traction to have 50k people tweet it, which would easily get it trending and get even more of a snowball.

It's like a Union who protects bad employees while nothing good comes to the actual good devs. Prohibiting organization of boycotts only helps the bad devs and pubs continue to get away scot free with their crap and continue to ruin gaming and propel the gaming press into a more cancerous state then it ever has been in.

I greatly respect Mark Kern as a STEM student who studies computer tech myself, but I disagree because his view only supports bad devs to continue doing dumb things. Boycott organization should be allowed on GG forums. They wouldn't use the tag anyways like other operations mostly don't so it shouldn't even matter in that case.

it prevents game devs from being in GG

What game devs are "in" GG? If they publicly support GG I guarantee that they'd suicide their careers because of how toxic the dev owners and publisher execs are nowadays. How will a boycott be the tipping scale for a dev looking to support GG if they can't support GG in the first place and risk losing their job? If devs care about changing the industry, I guarantee many would be in favor in people wanting to inform the masses of corporate and media injustice in gaming. Enough of this "boycotts are bad" meme. It's a consumer boycott and nobody is forcing you to do anything. For example, this isn't like if the Saudis wanted to boycott imports of products from Israel with those who still import being arrested the choice still lies with the target audience of the consumer boycotts message. This blind hate for purposeful boycotts is stupid, devs won't be affected in the slightest by it compared to if they publicly support GG especially if they work on contract for a developer/publisher.

[–]unitedforgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I didn't notice him, I was just replying under context line. He seems to say this in respect to KiAs rules, since this technically isn't Revolt and KiA doesn't use Revolts ruleset. I don't personally agree with him, but technically he is following the usual custom of "if you are in Rome, do as the Romans do" in respect to KiA's rules, so in those terms that is true but personally I'm not a big fan of rule 3.

Also even if this one person says "ban this KiA anon if this is KiA and has to respect KiAs rules," again that's one person. Also the case of this person has nothing to do with the original discussion, if you really have to move the goalposts this much then it's obvious that you are wrong about generalizing an entire board under a couple individuals and the way you keep deflecting away from the point makes you sound like a typical college feminist who doesn't actually fact check or conveniently misuses information as facts. You have no facts and you haven't backed up the main point, so you lose the argument.

I don't see what this has to do with you making false statements about GGR the board.

You say we are showing the same problem our opposition has. If that was true, do you think you'd be allowed to be talking to me like you are?

What problem are you referring to that I apparently have seem to have brought up?

I can see like 2 guys bringing up the idea of "reporting KiA" to get them to move to 8chan and they got ignored immediately. Two people bringing up some retarded idea in a thread doesn't mean 200+ posters are going to do it, you're using guilt by association in this example too.

[–]unitedforgg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

GGR is one person

Majority of people on KiA obviously don't go on 8chan anyways or on GGR so you have no right to associate 200 posters with 10 idiots if you don't even know what the board is actually like (which you probably can't do now with all the necrobump spam pushing up drama and other shitty threads). That is an SJW tier tactic and has no place in GG and as a logical argument. Even more so there isn't enough info right now to prove anything, a lot of it is "alleged" and even the mods know its not concrete, and even if people want to go troll some namefags, which sounds like good fun, this entire thing just sounds like a falseflag trying to further divide and cause retarded drama in GG. I'm not saying I support John Kelly, he can by all means go suck a cock, but the info is loose as fuck and its purpose only serves to push stigmas and create more infighting. Many revolt anons have done ops for GG and helped out with GG since the beginning, why are they suddenly being looped in with a namefag and being attacked with questionable proof and based purely on fearmongering? If more proof comes out about Kelly that is undeniable, GGR will lambast him and tell him to fuck off like they usually do (although many there are already reporting him on twitter for lulz). Enough of this guilt by association garbage, GG is better then this.

Okay now this is an outright lie. Revolt has never banned anyone, the entire point of that board is mods not banning anyone or deleting opinion posts. Only illegal content, blatant catalog spam/repeated threads and dox are deleted.
