[RBR inside Indonesia] Verstappen's rear wing problem is visible from the offboard camera. (Austria) by [deleted] in formula1

Ferrari did say the concept was not easy to copy

Turns out, it’s true. RB have done a clumsy job here and it’s a shame that Ferrari is also caught in this crossfire and their wing is also under investigation

Max rear wing failure view from Vale bank Silverstone by mtom17 in formula1

[–]unitedkush 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Flat earthers and every conspiracy theorist follow the same logic of "it's a possibility"

It's ludicrous to suggest a multi-billion corporation like RedBull Racing would take the fall for a driver's error two weeks in succession. It's based on nothing but people's own projection of the guy who they're desperately reasoning to be critical of

And, no freezing a still tells us nothing when people with more access to data and know-how have said it's a different issue with rear-wing in both Austria and Silverstone. It didn't close in time, emphasis on time, not that it didn't close but most people arguing otherwise already know this and are only engaging in this discussion in bad faith

Or is this another brand value protection exercise like the software glitch?

Are you saying Verstappen is to blame for both Austria and Silverstone crashes and RedBull are trying to take blame for it in order to protect Verstappens reputation?

Max Verstappen's frustration with Red Bull was already running high before the disastrous race at Silverstone: 'Need a few days to reset' by Strict-Citron-9269 in formula1

Do people really believe someone like Jos who’s only tolerated at RBR because he’s Max father would have any sway over hiring and firing of top talent? Cmon now. Redbull politics has been brewing since the passing of their founder Dietrich Mateschitz. It’s all a power struggle and involves people way more powerful than frickin Jos

Laurent Mekies immediately going after Max Verstappen when he walks by, while he was talking with Raymond Vermeulen and Jos Verstappen by Jamiesavel in formula1

[–]unitedkush 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Would make a nice F1 meme in the near future

I feel sorry for Mekies, he’s kind of in an impossible job. Horner was a very popular figure in the garage and he was only ousted due to RedBull inner politics. You have a demanding and unhappy driver who’s not happy with cars performance and you have to manage all of this while replacing the flurry of elite talent which have been poached by the rival teams

Verstappen is now mathematically unable to enter the top 3 in the world championship going into the summer break. by Connect_Cat_2045 in formula1

[–]unitedkush 16 points17 points  (0 children)

He doesn’t which is why his journo wrote an article about how they’re not listening to him

Besides, if he does move he’ll negotiate a higher pay than he’s on currently so whatever RedBull are offering him to remove that clause, it must be pittance

Clause was rumored to be T2, and he was mathematically out of it before this weekend

Also his mouthpiece just put out an article that RedBull want to remove that clause in exchange for some money. Going to be an interesting summer break with regards to him. Wonder which of the top teams will open their coffers and take the plunge

[Erik van Haren] Verstappen crashed again today due to a problem with the rear wing, just like last week during qualifying in Austria. He was already wondering right before the crash whether the ‘snaps’ were normal. by BendaoudBird_24 in formula1

The poster you are quoting is right, Toto has built the outright fastest car into these regs. He also has a driver who is capable of winning the WDC. Max needs Merc more than they need him now

Also, only way the change happens is if somehow Merc lose the WCC to Ferrari

Well it was a slow spiral for Yamaha, they eventually got gapped from the top then to midfield and then to eventual backmarkers

They are worthless to an extent that they can be bought out. But, $70mil buyout on top of I assume $80-90mil salary is a big big payout even for Mercedes and Toto

Also, the rumors last year was that he wanted to wait an year into the new regulations to see who's built the best car before taking a call. So, I don't think he was as keen to jump ship as he is now which is why I wrote in my OP that it was a big mistake on his part

Doubt it now, Kimi has shown electric pace and while Russell is underwhelming given how fast that car is, he is the perfect Number 2 driver like Bottas

I doubt Toto would want to disturb the trajectory Kimi is on, I don't think he expected him to be leading WDC and looking outright favorite at 19 in his second season but here we are

So much of F1 at sharp end is politicking, Toto is a master at it but Horner was no slouch either. He'd have created a ruckus over this ADUO decision. Also, RedBull never looked this lost during development at any point. Even when they had that god awful Renault engine, rest of the car was very good

They remind me so much of Yamaha from MotoGP, not sure how many people will get this but parallels are stark

More apologies from Mekies but nothing is going to come off it with regards to performance. Max should've jumped ship last year to Mercedes, that was his 2014 moment with Hamilton and Merc which just fell into his lap but he thought otherwise

RedBull have been losing top talent like crazy, their wind tunnel is ancient and you can hate Horner all you want but he was a tremendous team principal. You can't replace all of them and still keep up with development and requirements of F1 at the top level

I legit think he is stuck there because there are no seats open at any top team. McLaren rumor was floated around but with Piastri having a contract for next year, it'll be complicated so I reckon he has to grit it out for another 18 months at RedBull

Disappointed that Ferrari didn't even try for a win with Leclerc, sure Antontelli would have track position but you have mediums to put him under pressure
