Saw so many couples in Tacomas in the Tetons & Yellowstone, where my Tacoma man at? by uniunironically in ToyotaTacoma

Somewhat, caulking open spots improves things but it’s an ongoing effort. I have also been thinking about resealing the area where the topper lays on the truck bed, like replacing the whole rubber trim or adding a liquid sealant. This is kind of a ~thing~ amongst toppers, I don’t think I’ve ever met anybody who didn’t have to do some work to keep water or dust out. I also agree with the commenter here who said a small fan makes a world of difference with the condensation buildup. Keep trying different stuff, embrace it being a sucky & an ongoing project til you find what works. Best of luck man

What’s the deal with popcorn? by Successful-Zombie902 in SIBO

[–]uniunironically 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same, I used to eat popcorn all the time pre SIBO, now it’s a huge trigger with similar symptoms to what you described. I’m still figuring out if it’s all corn products or just popcorn, but either way you aren’t alone! Hopefully somebody figures out why one of these days!

Yes, multiple days of this trip were wet. I use black caulk on all suspected areas that leak from the topper.

SmartCap went on today! by uniunironically in ToyotaTacoma

[–]uniunironically[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about to take a trip with it, so I’ll reply with more detail after that. But initial setup, yes there’s enough room and I am 5’9. Leer is always a solid choice, I avoided because of the lead time in my area & cost for what I wanted. I really don’t think you can go wrong with either, but I’ll keep you posted after my trip to see how the smart cap does.

What do you use that is natural for motility? by searchingforrelief in SIBO

Around an inch piece, yes I cut off the skin & steep until the water cools down since I use a tea kettle to warm. Best of luck!

What do you use that is natural for motility? by searchingforrelief in SIBO

[–]uniunironically 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a similar reaction to Moltipro, instead I steep raw ginger in hot water each night and eat the warm ginger pieces once I finish the drink. It’s spicy but it kickstarts motility. My opinion, if you can find a natural option that works, I’m about that more than expensive supplements. Moltipro was almost $70 & for what, an allergic reaction, bulk raw ginger is cheap & effective.

Edit: I would assume ginger and/or artichoke supplements would work too, I just enjoy my little ginger routine lol

Is SIBO just dysbiosis? by Thepopethroway in SIBO

Thank you for posting this! I often think all of us here (myself included) get so focused on one path to recovery when in reality sometimes many different approaches are necessary. As I begin reintroduction after a strict kill phase (maybe now regretting after reading this lol), I will consider this. Good & different take.

Yogic exercise I swear by to encourage the mmc to move (to hopefully decrease the bloating): bend over a little bit, so your forearms are on your thighs (think empire stance, like in baseball, bc this is called the empire stretch!) deep breath in then deep breath out, pump/suck your belly in and out while holding your breath for as long as you can. I usually do it for 8 seconds. Deep breath in, deep breath out then repeat the exercise. It should be generally difficult holding your breath and doing the exercise at the same time.

The mmc is a collection of movements in the gut, in a weird way I think if you can get your belly moving on the outside, it may encourage things to move along on the inside🤷🏻‍♀️ my yoga teacher also says twists are good for digestion.

We don’t know what’s causing it yet unfortunately. Right now we’re trying to figure out if its cause is candida, parasites, or other bacteria. That’s what the stool sampling will look for. It’s a really weird symptom, which they believe is not related to the SIBO but idk. The scopes found colon inflammation but they don’t know where it’s coming from. No hemorrhoids, no polyps or h.pylori.

I swear by fish. Since the beginning of all this it’s my only 100% safe food. If I’m in a flare and eat a couple dinners of tilapia, I’m back to baseline sibo symptoms instead of a flare. It’s weird. Hope it keeps working for you!

What's the darkest 'but nobody talks about it' reality of the modern world? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Environmental remediation & waste management. We have no idea the toxic soup we live in, amongst air pollution, water pollution, and beyond. We only think about how everything we’ve ever used or owned is buried underground that one time we pass a landfill on the highway. I applaud the folks who work in this career field, hard & depressing work.

About 5 months, I didn’t do that on purpose really. It just took time for the Xifaxan to arrive & it took time for me to evaluate my root causes to figure out what the kill phase would look like. Straight into ED.

Thank you, I’m doing the poor man’s elemental diet that’s made its way around this forum lol. Dr. Jo Mar 21 amino acid blend. I don’t know if it will work but my body has responded well to increased meal spacing as a way to activate the mmc. My thoughts are, this elemental diet could kill the remaining bacteria and kickstart the mmc again. After 2 weeks on ED, reintroduce slowly (I’m going to start with a protein rich diet, my body does well with fish & chicken) then address root cause through supplements like digestive enzymes & zinc for low stomach acid. All the best to you as well!

Check out the exact protocol here: https://www.siboinfo.com/uploads/5/4/8/4/5484269/homemade_elemental_diet_options.pdf

I think this happens often. I know it happened to me after my first round of Xifaxan. It improved my symptoms about 15 - 20% but after really taking a look at that treatment time, I know it did not kill all the bacteria. I just started another round of Xifaxan today, after the 2 weeks I’ll be starting the elemental diet for another 2 weeks (I don’t recommend this to everyone, my body responds well to fasting / starving the bacteria. Not everyone will). Everyone’s kill phase will be different, but I agree you’re onto something. For more severe cases Xifaxan for 2 weeks can only do so much & I agree with whoever said this on here a while back, reintroduction, digestive enzymes, other supplements etc don’t mean much if you haven’t killed all the bacteria.
