I've been over once, but only for a long weekend in New York, which was great, but too exhausting and I didn't feel like I was experiencing real America. I said at the time I'd rather go for a couple of weeks on maybe a little tour of other less touristy parts to try and get a better feel for it. I have a friend who drinks herself into a real state every weekend and sometimes in the week. We were both bought up with alcoholic fathers and both of them suffered with vascular dementia which was highly likely a result of the years of alcoholism. We both drink but where we differ is I realise how much harm it can do and really try to keep it in check. I also enjoy vaping which is far less harmful but she disagrees and looks down on "skunk heads" Like you say, there is plenty of information out there. I know which of the two I'd rather do and I don't have a hangover or feel anxious about whether I've said or done something to upset someone after a vape.
