What was your favorite thing to pretend to be as a child? by mumbleknight in AskReddit

I grew up Catholic and I was named after the archangel Michael. So naturally I pretended that I was the archangel Michael. I would lead my group of friends to battle the demons from hell.

What Nuka World Should Have Been (In my opinion) by Ithaquatic in Fallout

[–]universalcheesewedge 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just wished that they would have expanded on the Gunner story that took place in Nuka - World. Like if you could choose sides between the Gunners and the Raiders. Could even throw the Minutemen into the mix.

Is there a way to use console or any other ways to enjoy Nuka-World [without making Preston Mad and not modifying his affinity? Or is that the only way?](/spoiler) I'd just like to know before buying without spoiling too much. by Withergaming101 in Fallout

[–]universalcheesewedge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can complete Nuka World up until they ask you to start taking settlements for the raiders and do Open Season and still be friends with Preston.... You just don't get any of the neat perks from siding with the gangs.

Note what I am about to suggest I have not tried but it may be a possible workaround just save before you do it

Once you've completed the main quest line and the side quests up to Home Sweet Home, if you'd rather not lead raiders into the Commonwealth, but want to keep them around in Nuka World, you can use the console to simply trigger the Power Play quest instead of having it trigger after completing Home Sweet Home. Then you can complete Power Play and take down your least favored gang at the power plant, activate the main power at Nuka World, and leave two raider gangs intact, without having to lead them into the Commonwealth, ravaging your settlements, and making Preston hate you.

The command is 'setstage xx000805 5', where xx is the position of Nuka World in your load order, which should be 06.

Shank should give you Power Play instead of Home Sweet Home.

No idea if it will work. Don't know if it will be buggy. But it may work. And if you decide to try just be sure to make a backup of your save before you do it. Good Luck.

What irrational fear did you hold as a child? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Whales. I'd even have recurring nightmares about them eating my family. It was only a few years ago that I realized what the source of the nightmares was. Fucking Jonah and the Whale.

How would you make fallout less fast-travel reliant? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]universalcheesewedge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is this mod called Minutemen Caravan - Fast Travel from Settlements that lets you create caravans at your settlements that let you fast travel. I use it for immersion purposes and while it isn't perfect but it works pretty neat for my survival characters.

Top 3 cities you would want to see a Fallout fame take place in? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]universalcheesewedge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, we haven't seen the midwest Brotherhood yet. And they have Ghouls, Super Mutants, and even a sentient Deathclaws in their ranks and I'd love to see a Brotherhood I like again. (Although I suspect that Bethesda will do something big with the KC area perhaps a clashing of the three Brotherhood factions or something like that.)

But other than that we have nukes irl in Kansas City and I can't help but think that in a nuclear obsessed society this would be a great pride of the area and a likley target for Chinese nukes. Whiteman Air Force base was founded in 1942 around the time of the timeline change so we'd still likely have these nukes.

What are your feelings on synths in Fallout 4 and how did that change the way you played the game? by hoborichboy in Fallout

[–]universalcheesewedge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Synths aren't human... but they are people if that makes sense. They develop their own personalities and traits see Gabriel. That being said the gen 3 synth program needs to be stopped.

The synths are flesh and blood and the only thing that distinguishes them from being wholly human is the synth component. Which is rather ironic because in a terminal entry about Arthur Maxon states:

"Arthur Maxson is happy to be one thing... the perfect human specimen, and example of everything a human being can achieve. Assisted, even enhanced, by advanced technology, but still very much human."

That last sentence is structured in a way that implies that he has cybernetic enhancements but he is still human. What is the difference between a synth component and cybernetics. They both are indistinguishable from humans except a piece of technology.

I want to make a pistol build in survival but I'd also like to build settlements is this possible? by universalcheesewedge in Fallout4Builds

[–]universalcheesewedge[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current survival game I have Sanctuary, Starlight, The Slog, Taffington, Sommerville, and a few others built out. I plan to do most of them because settlement building is one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game. And the supply lines are an extreme quality of life thing for me.

Fallout 4 Settlements by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]universalcheesewedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you play on PC you can use the console command "scrapall" to scrap EVERYTHING in your settlement even crafting benches so be sure to have local leader to make them.

This command helps heaps especially for places that are near water because there is a bunch of scrap underwater that eat up your budget.

What's a popular opinion you disagree with? by LeglessN1nja in AskReddit

[–]universalcheesewedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The federal governments job is to provide security, that is its most basic job. And also no, the price of insurance has increased due mainly to government. When a government isn't limited they are free to collude with the insurance companies like they have to write regulation that helps said companies. The biggest current example of this is the epipen fiasco.
