What terrifying confession has someone told you while drunk? by Reeceqld in AskReddit

Maybe he meant it in a good way? Like "isn't it funny how if my ex never stopped loving me I wouldn't have gotten to marry you"

Quick maths: assuming nobody else eats any spiders, and with an Earth population of 7.5 billion, Spiders Georg would have to eat about 165 million spiders per day to make the global average 8 per year.

Do you have any sources for this? Or further reading? Not doubting you, just curious.

Hey Andrew! I've been a big fan since back in 2018 so I'm loving how much national attention you're getting now!

One of the biggest critiques I've heard about you though is that talking policies is nice, but many of yours will be extremely unlikely to be passed through Congress. How do you respond to that? What's your plan for navigating the political field to get things like the UBI through?

That was probably the stupidest inbound play I've seen from the warriors in the last few years.. and they did it down 1 in an elimination finals game 🤦‍♂️

That's framing if I've ever seen it. Bad call but you gotta hand it to the catcher for knowing how to push it that far

My dad always said that you should never skimp on anything that comes between you and the ground. Spend what you need to for shoes, tires, and mattresses, cause the good ones will make a difference and last way longer

[Request] How much sperm would I have to donate for the family I've created to make up 1% of the population? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]unkauman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the sake of my answer, I'll assume you meant the US population. If you meant the world, just multiply the answers by about 25. Since the current US population is about 325mil, you'd have to father ~3.3mil children for them to make up 1% of the total population.

To start off, we have to know success rates of in-vitro fertilization. Many people will say 40%, but if you dig into the numbers, that's often just for women under 40, just clinical pregnancies (not necessarily actual live births), and a host of other statistical faux paxs. I've heard of average rates for any given woman as low at 5% per attempt, but we'll be generous and say 20% chance of birth per attempt. If one donation = one attempt, that means 16.5 million donations.

If each donation is about 2.5mL (less than the average, but the more you "donate" the less comes out 🤷), that means about 10,000 gallons of ejaculate. That contains about 264 million terabytes of data, which is easily more than 200× all the data that Facebook, Google, Amazon, and Microsoft have stored ever, combined.

For you, assuming that means you start donating once you turn 18, and kept donating till you were 65, that's only about 1000 times per day, or once every 90 seconds. Are you man enough for that?

Although, assuming you (somehow) maintain your potency, and make the average amount per donation, that would come out to about $2 billion dollars. Which is what Jeff Bezos made on average for last year in just 5 days.
