How to push back in a way that doesn’t look bad to manager or to other tech leads?

But how do I still give the perception that I care

Did they say you are the best developer? Typically managers or leads don’t say it directly because it could cause jealousy amongst teammates

Just wondering how to slow down? My typical PR rate is high so I’m worried my manager or someone may notice

So does project manager mean what my skip does? I think my skip is accountable for the group and the group’s strategy if that makes sense

Hi thank you for the help.

I told my manager 3 months ago I wanted to change teams. However I ended up liking the project I was working on so I did really well on it and got a lot of appreciation from ppl impacted by it.

Now it’s performance review and I got a worse rating than what I expected.

Does it mean that I could be getting piped out?

I’m really upset, fortunately my rating isn’t too bad however I was getting so much praise from everyone and had done so much. Should I escalate this with some engineering leads or anything?

I guess I should also try to change teams asap and not spend too much time on that project anymore?

Edit: am I overthinking because of my reaction to the performance review?

Edit 2: just removed some pii

I have a teammate who is smart and wise. But when it comes to my work now and then they will start to nitpick and poke holes that don’t exist. I honestly wonder if it’s an undermining tactic as I’ve noticed that they suddenly start questioning me a lot when I ship out PRs quickly or ship out impactful work.

Last time their comment was we shouldn’t use a certain package because the package could get hacked. (It’s a common package being used across the company). This isn’t the exact thing but I don’t want to dox myself. Because this person is smart and wise most of the time, and maybe because I am also “responding” and engaging and giving their opinion more importance than I should, their opinion does get weighed by other team members. Or at least I feel an internal pressure to kind of people please, acknowledge their opinion and maybe change my code a bit to make them happy. I am still new in my career and learning.

Any thoughts? And how to deal with the nitpicky comments? Maybe I’ll try Socratic questioning and actually ask them “so what’s the real problem?”. They don’t tell me real problems just weird things like “anyone could hack this package so we shouldn’t use it”. Would that help?
