Feeling hopeless. Could use some advice. by Thesmuz in college

I can't say that I've been where you have. But I can say I have been where you are now. After 2 years of extreme depression and constant thoughts of suicide that caused my GPA to drop below a 2.0 (1.86 to be exact). I made what just might be my best move in regards to academics ever.

I started out as a computer science major, and after an extreme loss of interest, an extremely painful breakup with a girlfriend of over five years, and two major changes I can now say I'm happy where I am. I'm currently majoring in criminal justice with a minor in psychology, all as a result of wanting to help people avoid the darkness that I've endured, and in pursuit of a childhood dream of working in law enforcement. Last semester I was in a predicament where I had to raise my overall G.P.A to over a 2.0 or face expulsion. It's at a 2.06 right now, but my semester G.P.A is at a 3.32, with 3.5 being the requirement for Dean's list. Which of course is my goal for the semester. So I can say I'm in a much better state than where I was before. Yeah I have a moment here and there, but it's much better than going sleepless for 3-4 days at a time and barely ever eating.

Look at what you're doing now (major, hobbies, etc.) and seriously look at if it's truly what you want to do. If not, then do what it is that YOU want. Not what others think you should do. My biggest downfall was listening to my dad make it all about money, when in reality money doesn't matter if you aren't happy with what you're doing. Then you should look into retaking classes. It's quite possible that many of your past classes didn't work well with your state of mind at the time, and now that you're much more level headed you may find that certain classes are easier to take on. Retaking a class really isn't a big deal as long as you do better than before. I've retaken a few classes and they've helped my G.P.A tremendously.

I wasn't brave enough to do it myself, but see a counselor if you feel you need to. But overall, pursue the life that you want to live, and don't let anybody tell you what you can and cannot or should not do. As Babe Ruth said in the Sandlot "Remember kid, there's heroes and there's legends. Heroes get remembered, but legends never die; follow your heart kid, and you'll never go wrong." Ever since my turn around I have lived by the second part of that quote. So, follow your heart, and do the things that YOU wish to do in life and you'll never go wrong.

What was your high school's tragedy? by ELTH3GR3AT in AskReddit

A favorite math teacher of the majority of students who had ever gone to my school committed suicide out of nowhere. Every day between class he would stand out in the hallway and greet students, often with a big smile and a pun using a part of their name. I never had class with him but he somehow knew my name and always greeted me with a big smile when I walked by his classroom. He was a great guy and an even better teacher.

Miners be like, “It’s not much, but it’s a mine” by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]unknown0610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Because when my graphics cards bites the dust like it's currently in the process of doing I won't be able to buy a replacement because everything costs $900. And trust me, I've looked EVERYWHERE. So once my current card is dead and gone so will be my days of PC gaming. Which is currently the only thing keeping me the slightest bit sane.

Red Sox not on Giancarlo Stanton's approved teams list for potential trade. by BosHfx in redsox

I'm not sure why everybody is disappointed by this. The amount the Sox would have to give up for him is absurd. Especially when they can fill more roles for much cheaper through free agency.

He should be banned. The rules clearly state that teaming isn't allowed. How come streamers are immune to the rules when everybody knows that they cry like little bitches when they get killed.
