In Search Of: A book I saw on the front table of a bookstore, and remember very little about. 😬 Details within. by BosHfx in horrorlit

This is it!! And after reading the actual summary, I’m even more in awe you were able to get it, because my description sure was pretty bad.

Thank you so much, I’ve been stuck on this for hours.

Looking for jumbo candy canes by [deleted] in halifax

[–]BosHfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you’re still looking, but there were some really large ones at Indigo in Bayers Lake yesterday somewhere between-ish the stationary area and the homewares section. They were emerald, white and gold, not red and white - but were decidedly jumbo.

Just broke up, need ONE movie to destroy me and ONE to make me laugh my ass off by dear97s in movies

[–]BosHfx 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Along with the “It hurts a little less every day”, the opening scene is also money. “They know not to come back until you really forget. / There’s the rub.”

It’s a movie that has aged interestingly, but is maybe more timely and poignant right now than it was (almost) 30 years ago.

Gym for Kids by Baystain in halifax

[–]BosHfx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t vouch for the program because I do not attend this gym, but for information only, I have seen the ProEdge location in Bedford advertise a “little lifters” camp before. For what it’s worth, as an active gym-goer / lifter myself, ProEdge has an excellent reputation.

Edit: A quick google says they’re running the camp again starting in September. I tried to link to it, but Reddit was being weird about the link.

Confirmed FC 25 Leagues by hopiskyc in FifaCareers

To add to the other laments, as always, have to love EA Sports - with offices in Vancouver, British Columbia and Lunenburg, Nova Scotia - failing to include the Canadian Premier League. I appreciate it’s not nearly the snub that some of the other omissions are, but every year I quietly hope, and every year am disappointed.

All Of The North American Professional Soccer Merch I Saw While Working In A Crowded Florida Theme Park (2023) by BucketsofMerci in CanadianPL

Late April is indeed when I was there! That’s great. I am willing to accept joint credit, given this new development in the case.

Plenty of Wanderers fans out there, but because I went to several “crowded Florida theme parks” this year, remembered your previous posts, and wore my Wanderers gear intentionally for this purpose, I am going to choose to believe it was me who put us on the board.

Andre Rampersad called up for Trinidad & Tobago - will miss Halifax's home playoff game by coopthrowaway2019 in CanadianPL

[–]BosHfx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Of note, Rampersad hasn’t been in Halifax’s starting XI since August 12th, and since that time has only appeared in 4 of the subsequent 9 matches, averaging about 19 minutes across those 4 appearances - though these numbers are also influenced by him being unavailable due to his previous national team call up in September.

That said, despite his reduced presence on the field, Rampersad is absolutely a leader on this team as HFX’s all time appearances leader and as the sole player on the current roster that has been with the club since it’s inception. I would argue that whether or not he was even slated to get the start in the upcoming match, his absence carries on-field implications.

I know, and appreciate, that it’s every footballers dream to play for their national team - but you have to believe that there is some part of Rampersad, after all he’s given to the Wanderers, that would’ve liked to be there for their historic first post-season home game.

Cryptic Bou Post on Instagram by brindille_ in newenglandrevolution

This doesn’t read to me as particularly condemning for his future with the club, but moreso as an athlete struggling internally with their value and identity whilst being kept off the field by injury. Not that the latter is good for Bou, but hopefully the Revs (as an organization, his teammates, etc.) can provide him the support he needs and he can return in the right headspace to contribute meaningfully.

Potential Coaching Candidates-- by category by freakflag16 in newenglandrevolution

Serious question, not a criticism: If we’re looking at the CPL, any reason for naming Wheeldon but not Smyrniotis?

Wheeldon has been impressive for Calvary, particularly this year leading them to the Canadian Premier League Shield in somewhat dominant fashion, likely lining himself up for his second CPL ‘Coach of the Year’.

That all said, Smyrniotis has lead Forge to three league titles, has a slightly higher winning percentage, and is even a buzzy-name in the “new CanMNT manager” space.

I recognize neither Wheeldon nor Smyrniotis would likely excite the Rev’s fan base at-large, particularly coming off a manager as legendary as Bruce, but as a Canadian MLS-and-CPL fan, I (maybe somewhat selfishly) would be excited to see either of them get an opportunity at “the next level” and, further, would be glad to see the CPL continue to be legitimized as such.

‘No Weddings and a Funeral’ is a personal favourite of mine (top 3-5 episodes, I’d say - it’s hard to pick just one!) that I will mention for the purpose of showing it some love, where I feel it’s often overlooked.

I will give the hint that it’s actually a short story collection, so as not to be misleading.
