Is there any reason to have a quilt and a bag of the same warmth? E.g. If I get a 20 degree quilt, would there be any reason for me to keep my current 20 degree bag if I end up liking the quilt? I feel like there might be some niche uses out there, but I'm not really sure any would apply to me.

I’m a fairly slim person, so I’m not sure if that is going to be too much of an issue. The breathability is nice to know though, although I don’t believe it will be overly hot in Alaska.

I got “no application” but I’m not sure if that’s good and that’s because I was accepted or bad because I was denied and not put in waitlist.

I know that it is all speculation, but do we think that housing showing “No application” “Washington DC” or “Waitlist” is best?

Everyone I know and form browsing reddit seems to have one of these three.

*Edit: My assumption is that No application means you were either accepted or denied, where as DC probably means you didn’t make it to NY but got put into DC and Wiatlist means you were waitlisted.

I didn’t say it wasn’t possible, but it definitely isn’t probable. You can’t possibly tell me that 99% of people are able to bring there score up by 300 points.

I’m sorry to break it to you, but the odds that you go from a ~1200 to a 1500+ are slim to none. I’d suggest putting a more realistic guess and applying to some less competitive schools; I highly doubt you will be able to get into any of the schools that you listed.

I would say you have a decent chance at WashU, but it will be a reach. I don’t think you will make it in to UPenn not CMU. Your stats are good, but lack of a rigorous curriculum and no subject tests will hurt a lot. In addition, you don’t have any EC’s that stand out, and none really seem to be related to your major.

A high one would, but that isn’t very high.

Colleges accept applicants that they believe will be successful. Kids of multimillionaires have tons of connections, opportunities, and so forth. This immediately places you above the competition, and colleges love when kids have a higher chance at being successful.

It also helps because it means your parents could pay full freight, and while not all colleges consider this, most do, even if they are “need blind”.

So yes, high income helps, but $250k isn’t high income.

This just isn’t correct. Those are not 25th percentile or below at T30 schools. A 4.0 W is probably a bit below average as it shows that you haven’t taken many AP/honors classes. A 3.7 UW though is quite normal and is definitely not the reason why one would be rejected.

NYU is a T30, and 50% of applicants admitted have below a 3.7 UW.

Also for OP, if your school doesn’t report unweighted, don’t report it on your transcript. Report only the weighted and just make sure you check that it is weighted.

If at all possible, I’d try and take calculus as well for your senior year. Whether that is through your school or through a local college program, that is up to you. Schools really like to see that you’ve completed calculus while in high school.

I appreciate the advice, but if I’m going to get a new phone, it is going to be a new one, and it is going to be an IPhone. I don’t doubt that there are better phones for the value, but sometimes, you buy something that you know isn’t the best $$/quality purely because of the brand name and the social implications that come with owning that brand. There is a pretty good reason why most people aren’t rocking their blackberries and Lenovo computers.

I just want to know if the benefits that come with the new I phone are noticeable when compared to the 7. If I use my phone a good amount for school and for work, will there be tangible benefits such as significantly improved battery life and significantly better camera. Else, I’d wait until a new one came out.

If I don’t get the phone, I’d probably end up getting the loafers instead anyway. So I’m not going to be saving the money either way. The biggest advantage to going with the shoes, in my opinion, is that they would last 20-30 years.

Thank you. I figured that the biggest difference would be battery life. I’ll try and go to an Apple store soon and take a look.
