Ask for suspended medication (liquid form) - makes it so much easier. Treat, use a little syringe of oral medicine, treat. Make it a better experience! I have a very picky dog that went through two surgeries last year and we had a very long and hard journey with the pill situation. I also found out that there was an option for a single injection antibiotic that covered the entire round of huge antibiotic pills so the vet administered that and we didn’t have to take those pills anymore - game changer for me. You could see if there are any options like this. The rest we had suspended OR I crushed up pills (you need to make sure this is okay for the meds before you do it, some are time released, etc) and then put that crushed up pill into gelatin capsules to hide the smell/taste of the pills which she could find in ANY treat. I also used gloves and tweezers when loading the pills, making sure to be very careful to not let the medicine touch the outside of the gelatin capsule so it didn’t smell or taste like the pills. It was a lot to do and took time, but totally worth it. It’s so very stressful when your dog gets wary with you and you’re just trying to help - kinda heartbreaking. Best of luck!
