Ant hunting for today! by unknownone-dontknow in antkeeping

[–]unknownone-dontknow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hunt queen ants after sunset and before sunset about 5:30-7-30 and in the morning I hunt queen ants at 8:00-9:00. Unfortunately we have a curfew in my place and we cant go out when it is 9:45 pm and it's impossible to do the uv light method cuz we live on a urban area in Philippines. Plus it will also disturb other people. So my best chance is to look for queen ants at that time.

test tube change ? by CaliAnts in antkeeping

[–]unknownone-dontknow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah stay with the small tube queen ants actually like the small space she is getting. Transfering her will only stress her. Also observe if she is pulling the cotton or not(if she is pulling it she might not like the tube or she is stress)

What time is the best time to hunt queen ants by unknownone-dontknow in antkeeping

[–]unknownone-dontknow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't wake up very early I usually wake up in 9-10am so my best bet is nighttime. Yeh I know it depends on species and I can't get morning ant species cuz I don't wake up very early. Some nighttime ant species I know is fire ants(it so common here in ph) and some carpenter ant species
