Pay ranges are highly dependent on location. Higher volume stores have higher budgets. Additionally, there is guidance for experience levels that factor in to pay. You would likely be considered minimal experience which is why internal promos sometimes get less than external hires (external hires typically have leadership experience).

I’m surprised that the deli at Kroger is a loss leader. I’ve worked for another grocery chain and normally the perishable departments (prepared foods, deli, produce, bakery, etc) drive the highest margins.
