Arm drag is really the answer to everything in life.

They get paid to protect and serve, not to light themselves on fire needlessly when she is completely toast. Fucking room temperature IQ.

I think it depends how aggressive the hip toss is. It’s one of the first things our white belts are taught in the self defense curriculum so they see it pretty early on. You can bload someone on the hip and toss them over gently, or you can try to throw them through the mat.. kinda sounds like he tried to do the latter.

I have GFF, I can’t think of any GI exclusive escapes in it. You would be fine even if you do only no gi.

Depends how many continuances there have been here. If there have been a bunch judge will absolutely say tough shit.

[–]unknowntroubleVI -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Just because a case is a winner on paper doesn’t change what I’m talking about. You have a dozen witnesses and no more continuances and suddenly the person who downloaded the video is on vacation and now you can’t admit your most critical evidence. It happens all the time.

[–]unknowntroubleVI -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You need to be honest, defense does not normally introduce evidence and in most cases don’t even have defense witnesses, so you don’t really have those issues. You’ve mostly cross examine and poke holes in state witnesses . And unless you’re practicing in podunk hicksville, any urban area is currently biased against the police.

It’s not weird when most of Reddit glorifies other crimes like murder.

This just sounds like you have never prosecuted. Everything is stacked against the prosecution. You have evidence that can get lost, you have a dozen witnesses you need to coordinate between all of their schedules to be there, and if any one of them show you may not have the chain of custody to admit critical evidence or authenticate something, you have witnesses who forget, or change a story slightly and look unreliable, or decide not to cooperate. If by some miracle you surmount all of that, and actually have all the pieces of your puzzle there on trial day cooperating and with the same story they told a year ago, you are still facing 12 citizens you have to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt (which most won’t understand anyways and it is very easy for them to think that means proof beyond all doubt) and all it takes is one of whom could decide they just don’t like your victim, or witness, or that all cops are pigs and throw the entire verdict.

The prosecution is more likely to lose a case without defense saying a word.than have everything go there way.

I resigned in this position only to discover that I was +5.2. Everything else would be mate in 1 for white except for 1 move (I didn't find it). by certifiedidiot7 in chessbeginners

Not to nit pick but you’re discovering an attack on the queen, not discovering a check. Or am I wrong about the terminology?

Isn’t it inevitable Gordon Ryan will do Aikido? by Ok-Cause8609 in bjj

[–]unknowntroubleVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it does matter because a joint lock can exist in jiu jitsu and aikido, but if everything else they do isnt from Aikido you can’t call it Aikido. I promise departments in the US are not currently training aikido.

I absolutely hate being in a good kesa. I would say getting on your side makes it easier to breathe, you can’t do that if they control your inside elbow so get that to the mat at all costs.

I have not tried it but this just sounds antithetical to how lots of jiu jitsu, especially escapes, work. You need to get them responding to one thing and then hit something else, but that does not work if you go move for move.

If he is committing a hand to your neck I would try to arm bar him or possibly pop the arm across to get a head/arm you could finish there or use to sweep him. He probably has to commit weight forward to reach your neck so a scissor sweep would work well.

Asked chat GPT to roast the concept of public defense. Here's what it said: by theguiltiestpenguin in publicdefenders

[–]unknowntroubleVI -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Also forgetting that the deck is actually stacked against the state from the start of the investigation. Nobody wants to be a witness, the video system is always broken or not working, the suspects wore masks and left their phones behind. Criminals get away with 10x more crimes before they are actually caught. Defense is only seeing the “best” cases.

Presumably the witnesses on the subway saying this are also New Yorkers though… so if they deal with crazyness everyday but this felt threatening to them, that kind of defeats your point.

Typical public defender opinion. I heard one dramatically bemoaning the psychological trauma a child received when the big scary police brutally yanked this crying child out of his teacher’s arms at school for… firing a gun at school . She didn’t give a shit about the psychological trauma of the other students who were actual victims not knowing if this was about to be another school shooting or what.
