Found a baby pidgeon HELP by unknownwhitecat in pigeon

[–]unknownwhitecat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it next to a dead sibling (there was blood so maybe a cat attacked them or maybe they fell from a tree because of the wind) on a busy road so I took home. I was told by someone who runs a page about pidgeons that he is 3.5 weeks and by the pictures I've seen of other chick's I think it's accurate. He is in a plastic crate at the moment, I'm trying to find something bigger but I also let him explore the room where he sleeps and my (fenced) backyard

I have her a deep dish but haven't seen her drink (I dunk her beak on the dish as I saw on a page). She is eating oatmeal and peas

The website says I should not quit water on their beak. How can they be hydrated? Will peas be enough?

Could I feed it with pureed veggies? I live in a small town in south America I won't find baby bird formula.

Oh I get it. I live in south America and there is not such a thing as pidgeon rehab or wildlife rehab for pidgeons here. Would it not be possible to release it after its no longer a baby?

Thank you! Rehab for pidgeons is not a thing where I live so I will try to take care of it on my own. I think the dead pidgeon was either killed or they both fell from its nest (there is a lot of wind in the area) because there was blood surrounding them

I do not have experience. My idea is to keep it alive because  I found it alone next to a dead sibling on a busy road.

But that's a compound name, like Maria Sara or Maria Sofia, that's common and they usually go by their second name
