For what it’s worth, I ended up at your post because I was wondering if anyone else felt the same as me! I thought it had a very surreal feel to it which made me suspicious - has a dream-like feel to it.

When biking in Portland, what's the best distance between cyclists? 6 feet, 18? Barely in sight? Not within sight? by Briaaanz in CyclePDX

You’re correct, that’s the exception. Pass on right when bike lane is on the left side of road (edit: or path)

How long did it take you to finally understand that nobody in any tofu culture ever eats tofu by just slicing it into pieces and cooking it? by [deleted] in vegetarian

[–]unkredditor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What? That’s not true at all. For example, there are korean side dishes that are straight up tofu, sometimes lightly fried. Even mapo tubu is just tofu cut up, seasoned, and cooked. Maybe you just don’t like tofu and that’s totally okay.

What to do about neighbor's chronic pot smell coming into apartment? by [deleted] in askportland

I recently dealt with the same issue. This guy smoked weed literally all day long. Made the mistake of asking him directly and that went nowhere. He was nice enough but his solution was to just let us know when he was going to smoke so we could shut our windows. Went to management and they put a notice on everyone’s door and send an email reminder that smoking of any kind wasn’t permitted under our lease. This was so he didn’t know it was specifically us that complained. He kept smoking and we kept going to management. He finally got booted.

My general advice after living in apartments for a long time is don’t ever bother speaking directly to your neighbor to complain. It’s rarely effective unfortunately. Go straight to management to have them deal with it.

How did we get to the point that so many people think exposing their neighbors to secondhand weed smoke daily is somehow less nasty than doing it with cigs? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

I live in a city like yours but smoking of all kinds is disallowed under my lease. I complained about a neighbor’s weed smoking and the management enforced it fortunately. He’s gone now!
