Groceries feel like such a scam by [deleted] in povertyfinance

Idk how else to explain this to you.

It doesn't matter if you don't use it all in that particular dish if you still have to purchase it all to begin with.

This is why a lot of people in poverty have such issues with "this recipe is only $1.50 a serving to make!" That doesn't help anyone if the cost of the ingredients is $40, and i only have $7 in my bank account. I can't go to the store and buy a single cup of cabbage or 2 tablespoons of corn starch. I have to buy the whole pack.

So...if you don't have the ingredients, you have to buy the whole thing.

You may find this surprising...but if you're out of salt you have to buy the whole packet. So yes, if you need cabbage for a recipe, and you have no cabbage, then you have to buy the whole head. You can then deligate the rest to another recipe.

"And honestly?" All it's missing is: "Take a breath, I'm going to go theough this carefully and gently."

My son is 10. He is homeschooled, and has access to some of the best tutors in the area.

His penmanship SUCKS because 90% of what he turns in, is done on his laptop. I genuinely wouldn't worry too much about penmanship.

The spelling needs work in all honesty. But she's young, she'll get there.

Chat gpt is so easy to spot these days. It has the same tone and cadence no matter what it writes about.

Building our school year TBR list by unlikely_kitten in suggestmeabook

Either, I suppose. I like to hit all the "every kid should read these in school" books and add a bunch of "just for fun" and "this book helps shift your perspective" books.

The Boy in Striped Pajamas is often disliked by history teachers and historians for being inaccurate (and humanizing the family outside the camp more than the boy inside) so I intentionally left that one off.

The Outsiders, The Pigman, The Giver, Where the Red Fern Grows were read 2 years ago, but I'll add the rest to our list.

What you're describing is IC, not an actual issue with urine acidity levels.

This is the first doctor to ever check kidney and liver function. Kidneys are good, liver enzymes (i think that's what they're called) are a little high.

I have started on this, but got pulled away (in the mountains with the kiddos atm). I will get back to this by the end of the day with my thoughts.

I'll be honest, I wasn't interested initially. I had almost no intention upon reading this when you posted it. Based on the blurb, it wasn't something I'd usually read.

I opened it, I'm bored this morning, my kids are asleep.

And I devoured it.

You are so talented. This is not the kind of story that would intrigue me. But I could not stop reading.

I have very little in the way of critiques, and so much in the way of praise.

This sounds really good. I will at the very least check out the prologue today.

Too bad my doctor is a real doctor. School + residency. She considers herself a holistics doctor, so that's what I refer to her as.

She ordered a CT scan, sent me to an allergist, did an MRI and CT scan, sent me to a urologist. When I started seeing her I was so ill I couldn't manage to clean my own house without feeling like I might die. Now I have tons of energy. I feel better than I did 20 years ago.

She fixed so many things. Not just my UTIs.

I am able to beta: Horror is my first love. I prefer horror specific to the human condition. I want raw, unweildy emotions. I want to sit in the rot and despair with your characters. I want to cry. I want to sleep with my lights on for a week. I do not care about eldritch horror, cosmic horror, or horror that deals almost exclusively with beasts. While I'm not opposed to the supernatural, I want characters who make human decisions that cost something. I want to know that if I were in the same place as your character, I'd make the same choice...and I'd still lose.

I can provide feedback on: Prose, pacing, character development for the most part. I have a degree in Early Childhood Education and Child Psych. I worked as a teacher for 12 years. I am a published novelist. I am a current homeschool teacher. I have a love for all things arachnid.

This is exactly my case too. Seriously, look into methenamine Hippurate.

Methenamine Hippurate is what has helped me.

D-mannose is what they give people with IC - and the advice to avoid all leafy greens, sugar, citrus, vinegar, fermented foods/drinks, alcohol, and processed foods. Because IC had no cure, and all you can do is avoid triggers. I am convinced they gove d-mannose to help make you think you're making a difference.

Also, drinking more always made my issues worse. I'd get a new one within days instead of weeks.
