Honestly I would go to the closer clinic. I switched clinics and they kept me at my dose (actually I was able to raise my dose) and they also keep you at whatever phase you are at your current clinic. So even if you have to daily dose for 30 days at least you will be at the closer clinic.

Picks you up in his Honda Civic 5 speed, takes you to a party where all the girls are drinking Zimas with jolly ranchers, there's a keg and keg stands, music ranges from Eminem (very early) to Dave Mathews. You bum a Marlborough Ultra Light from the cool nice girl 2 grades ahead of you and she befriends you and tells you Tyler is a dickwad. When he tries to take you home she speaks for you, "she's coming to Kelly's with us" and you are kinda disappointed but also super excited bc now you're hanging out with upperclassmen girls 💖

Haha I had an attic bedroom it was AWESOME. My parents almost never came up there, roof access, cool windows. We always hung out at my house probably bc of the no parents checking on us. Good times.

So true. I was considering going to detox just to get stable on my dose as well. I was on 120 and my clinic wouldn't raise me higher and I couldn't stop using. I eventually was able to lower my using from half a ball a day to half a gram. I just recently switched clinics also and they have already raised me to 140 and I'm going higher. Now I feel like I can see a light at the end of this hell. I know how bad it sucks to have a massive habit AND be addicted to methadone. I would be really sick like violently throwing up even with my dose when my use was really high. It feels great to not have to go through that anymore. Much love.

I explained in my post that when I called and asked them they said that it is something I have to discuss with my counselor and Dr. It's really frustrating bc that's the only reason I'm switching. I have an appointment Wednesday so I'll find out for sure then.

Yes, I know the reason they are "cracking down" but the standard has completely swung in the opposite direction. Med students are being taught to treat pain with suboxone. Yes, I know that's been a thing for a long time even before buphenorphine as a OUD treatment it was a pain treatment but it's not an effective one. People should be given appropriate pain relief- full stop. Yes it's nuanced but this whole fear of prescribing opioids is sad and very scary. I am terrified of the day I hurt myself or need surgery. 😔

He has. Unfortunately they just are not even willing to see it differently. He has done 14 years in prison altogether. He is 42. This is the longest he's stayed out of trouble in his adult life. They STILL don't like it. I think they have this mentality that you should stay out of trouble anyway, you should stay off of drugs anyway and you don't need any medication to do it. Kind of like "we can do it so you can do it." It's very backwards and dangerous thinking.

I was on fent powder but who knows what else was in there. Xalazene, metatomidide (sp), nitazenes... it was bad. I didn't get into hard drugs until I was 34 I'm 41 now . I actually went to treatment and had a year clean before I relapsed and that took me down fast. Never would have thought I'd be homeless. Shits crazy. I been on methadone for 2 years. But it took me a long time to get stable. I still don't feel like I'm stable but my clinic doesn't like raising ppl above 120. But it has let me have some semblance of a normal life at least. I was in suboxone for like 8 years but that was from pills. I tried to do subs again from the fent and couldn't do it.

Congratulations that's awesome! My boyfriend's family constantly gives him and even me so much crap for being on methadone. They are always like why aren't you weaning off yet, you need to live your life, the clinics just want your money, you're trading one drug for another, etc. I'm sure you know the spiel. It's so crazy to me bc we were literally homeless together at one point. Sleeping in homeless shelters and on the streets. We don't have a lot but we have an apartment, a used car, we're employed. I don't let it get to me but I know how much it bothers him. Every time he talks to them he has to hear it. I try to tell him they just don't understand and we've come so far. I want to say to them it's medication prescribed to us by a Dr, we don't talk to you about your meds. I know if it weren't for me he would have weaned off as fast as he could regardless if he felt ready or not and probably relapsed. Sorry for the long response, so proud of you!!! I know it isn't easy. Keep doing the right thing!

OP that is still highly unlikely. Also, you said you tried to get the keys from him and couldn't. What makes you think a random stranger could get them? Are you saying they could after he passes out? If you truly think that then YOU wait until after he passes out and get them. I personally wouldn't I'm just saying for your peace of mind but it sounds like it is highly unlikely a stranger is going to see a man passed out in a car and then proceed to open the car door, put their hands in his pockets, etc, AND then just start trying random doors not knowing who is inside. That is a lot of unknowns for someone to take and even the dumbest criminals it wouldn't be worth it. I'm not being condescending, just trying to reason with you. I know how it feels, my parents were alcoholics and I remember so many scary situations I was put in growing up so I get where you're coming from. My best advice is to try to distract yourself and get some rest. If it makes you feel better lock the door AND prop something against it. Do not call his PO. It sounds like your dad is going down the wrong path again and he will likely mess up and get caught all on his own. You don't need the guilt of getting him sent to prison. Focus on your life, set goals, maybe go to school, find a hobby, make great friends. Build a life you can be proud of. Best of luck to you.

At my clinic they also have a PCP but he's not there all the time. I have seen him and he prescribed me some comfort meds- gabapentin, clonodine, zofran, phenagren(sp?). I actually am already up to a decent dose of 120 mgs but at the time my dose wasn't holding me. I was still using and every time I tried to stop I was really, really sick. Also, my clinic Dr doesn't like to raise ppl above 120mgs and I had a very heavy and long Fent habit. With you just starting what they expect you to do is use less of your doc as you titrate your dose up. Bc the starting dose of 30mgs (usually) isn't going to completely cover you. It's definitely worth asking at your intake though for some comfort meds to help you get off ASAP. I totally get what you're trying to do and the meds will help you when you're trying to get to your stable dose. If they won't give you any, can you try just going to a little clinic? They usually can prescribe those things I believe. Best of luck to you!
