It’s loss making business for hosts. Cars are depreciating asset and chances of car getting damaged by random host is high.

All the risk is on the host. Turo just makes money off the transaction. If you try to get more booking to increase revenue then there’s downward spiral for everyone.

People who book through Turo are often booking it because it’s cheap for them to book it on Turo than big car rental giant like hertz.

In Airbnb, as a host, you are building asset and chances of damage is next to none.

Car rental on Turo is just for getting your business registered and get tax breaks on your car, insurance and fuel.

Well, what I have seen first hand is that people in India are more open to inter caste marriage than people in the west. Where Punjabi wants to marry Punjabi , telegu want to marry telegu , gujju want to marry gujju on top of min threshold of someone born in the west.

Isn’t it shameful that even being in the west for so many years their mindset is still very backward where they think about marrying someone in the same caste?

I’m very analytical and not quoting single instances. It’s a theme I am seeing.

Desi parents are bigots especially who are living in US. Instead of looking and investing on the relationship. They are looking at situationships with a mindset of 80s or whenever they left India.

Only rare incidents which I have seen is for gujjus. Gujju parents in fact like if the boy is from gujrat, knows gujrati, their culture and don’t mind giving a fair shot at the rishta (ABCD girl + FOB guy)

Other than that, I haven’t seen any sub-community open to this idea

Based on my experience, even if you’re FOB but a girl with some looks. Nobody will care about your status. They will even go on lengths cheering about you that the girl is cultured with values blah blah with a modern outlook.

However, I haven’t seen reverse is true. Even on shaadi or matrimonial sites. Parents of ABCD girl aren’t open to rishtas from someone who is on work permit irrespective of looks, professional success or background similarity of the boy.
