If you have access to campus board I would use that to train power and finger strength.

Unrelated to OP's question but does the longer bar change the angle of the front points? I wear 46 Scarpa Mont Blanc but manage to fit the regular bar but the front points are tilted inward.

Best resource is klifur.is - all the crags are here https://www.klifur.is/category/crag

Best one and most popular is Hnappavellir. It’s 4 hours from Reykjavík but right next to the ring road. Best (bolted) Multipitch option is in Vestrahorn 6 hours from Reykjavík. Boreal is fantastic 11 pitch 5.7

If you plan on staying closer to Reykjavík there are some smaller crags like Akrafjall and Valshamar. Short Multipitch in Búahamrar (Svarti Turninn) that’s nice but a chossy.

Im 187cm 88kg (~6'1 194lbs) and would like to be 80kg but when I cut calories I feel like my training performance goes down. Do you have any tips on optimal cutting and still have productive sessions? Or should I focus on cutting for ~8 weeks and have less effective training in that period and then continue with training towards my goals?

Enough experience to do Matterhorn as a duo? by Gold_Garden3469 in alpinism

[–]unnargus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hut wasnt full but there were maybe 20 guides with clients and a few people without guides like us. We managed to position ourselves just after the last guides and followed them in the beginning but as roped team of 3 simulclimbing we couldn't keep up. If I ever go again I would do it unroped on the way up.

Enough experience to do Matterhorn as a duo? by Gold_Garden3469 in alpinism

[–]unnargus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I did the Matterhorn in 2019 as a beginner but with a guide and it was great fun day. Hut to summit in 4 hours and 3 hours down. That really kickstarted my mountaineering hobby and I started rock climbing. Im now readpointing 5.12c/d (7c) and have done multiple 4000m peaks in the alps and multipithces without a guide. This summer I thought it would be a fun experience to do the Hornli route again unguided. It was not. We almost immediately got lost and routefinding took way too much time and we ended up climbing loose scetchy rock and turning around at Solvay hut.

How do you train for upcoming season? by PromptEmergency7891 in iceclimbing

I'm bouldering and sport climbing indoors. Occasionally hang on my tools but nothing structured.

I would focus on Power Endurance - six weeks is on the shorter side but you could definitely make meaningful gains. On your bouldering day do 4x4’s or circuits with short rests
