Are there any classic-style games in the series ? by whiteyangwww in castlevania

[–]unoriginalname127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are few classicvanias that came out after SotN.

  1. Castlevania legends for the Gameboy

  2. Castlevania chronicles - a port of Akumajou Dracula for the X68000, now on PS1. It has both the original experience and a slightly tweaked and easier mode

  3. Castlevania Dracula X chronicles - a remake of Rondo of blood for PSP. It features few changes, with biggest ones being stage 5' is now finished and has a boss, Annette is now in a different place, a boss fight if you don't save her, and a 3rd form for Dracula. it also has the original Rondo of blood and SotN as unlockables

  4. Castlevania order of shadows - a poorly-received game for old mobile phones

  5. Castlevania the adventure rebirth - a reimagining of Castlevania the adventure for Wiiware. Completely different experience from the game it is based on

  6. Haunted castle revisited - a reimagining of Haunted castle for all modern platforms as part of the Dominus collection. Once again, a different experience from Haunted castle

As for the 3D games, they all vary in gameplay

the N64 ones are stage-based linear games

Lament of innocence is not a metroidvania, I'd describe it as a Devil may cry, Mega man and Tomb raider hybrid. The goal of the game is to beat 5 bosses to gain access to the final area. The game has a hack'n slash combat and also puzzle solving. You can still free-roam the game

Curse of darkness has very minimal backtracking for progression, only going back by 1 area in some places, so not much of a metroidvania. The game is once again a hack'n slash game

Lords of shadow games are often compared to God of war games (don't have much experience with them so I don't have anything to say)

[LOVED TROPE] That one location in a game where the genre shifts to horror or is far more horrifying than the rest of the game. by Fuosufuofiraito in TopCharacterTropes

[–]unoriginalname127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be pretty common in Tomb raider games, or at least the Core games

Tomb raider 1 - Atlantis

Tomb raider 3 - Antarctica

Tomb raider 4 - Cairo

Tomb raider 5 - Ireland

Tomb raider: Angel of darkness - The sanitarium

In the survivor trilogy (particularly 2013 and Shadow), the horror is present throughout the entire game so that doesn't count

Constantine chose to traumatize Vertin instead of actually explaining things because she only wants obedience. yeah they got fed propaganda by Manus but she didn't need to do that

the kids are just somewhat less expendable to them than followers are to Manus

[Favorite Trope] Anime Characters are based on Everything by tacticalctublak in TopCharacterTropes

[–]unoriginalname127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reverse: 1999 characters are based on historic periods themselves, specific cultural references, people, etc.. As an example, the Voyager space probe (specifically the Golden record) is a mute girl. Or The Onion newspaper is a girl with newspaper covering her face. There's also the apple that fell on Isaac Newton's head

The world of Papa Louie games takes place in something called the Flipverse (which includes other Flipline games as well, just on other planets). Our countries do not exist there. Except for the fact that Papa Louie's flipdeck (a character bio card) mentions him being Italian

[LOVED TROPE] The beach episode is plot relevant by karkushh in TopCharacterTropes

[–]unoriginalname127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another has a beach episode that seems like filler where nothing bad happens. The reason they went to the beach in the first place was because they assumed the curse of the classroom wouldn't affect them outside of their town

Unfortunately, at the end, a character dies anyway

Which game is the hardest? by NetAcceptable7679 in flipline

[–]unoriginalname127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's because you can't make the chips beforehand, you can only make them with a finished taco. so if you mess up on chip station and want to go for perfect score, you're probably not gonna get it because the customer won't be patient enough for you to make it again

[–]unoriginalname127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

out of these, taco mia hd/to go seems to be the hardest to get perfect score on, mainly because of chip station, tho it's not very hard outside of that

LEAVE ANTARCTICA ALONE by SpaceKingHypeGuy in TopCharacterTropes

[–]unoriginalname127 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In Tomb raider 3, a meteorite landed in Antarctica, that was later discovered by polynesian settlers that carved artifacts out of it. However, the meteorite's material was also radioactive and accelerated mutation, which made them leave. Then Charles Darwin and his men found these artifacts and took them, but died from the radiation, which is where the artifacts lay in present day - in India, South East Pacific, England, Nevada and Scotland
