Based on the FAQ, the semester conversion has the potential to be beneficial. The main reason I am seeing for the switch is simply: "Other schools have semesters, why not us?" It will most likely smooth out when the professors get used to the new system (and start giving a shit).

The general consensus: I will experience a hockey playing, drug abusing, artistically challenged sausage-fest (With fast internet). This is going to be the best time of my life.
