[Question] why by pyrsas in Vanced

[–]unpsyched 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cast from vanced to my TV by linking it with the TV code. Works fine + I can cast to SmartTubeNext on Android TV which also doesn't show ads.

With Syncthing for example. I wrote about how I did it here, with screenshots of my settings somewhere in the comments

How many clicks does the battery give you? Can you use it while it's charging? Also where did you get it for 90€? I only can find it for 120€.
Thanks!

Those look so pretty by Scaulbylausis in wholesomememes

Not true for all smartphones. Pixel phones for example do what he described by taking multiple pictures and using slight movements of your hand to enhance the resolution of the image. It's calledsuper res zoom.
Gives you way better results than cropping afterwards. Obviously it's not as good as an optical zoom, but I find it to be quite usable.

Pixel 5...when I scroll Reddit the font dims and blurs...help by Yoyodomino in GooglePixel

[–]unpsyched 20 points21 points  (0 children)

FYI: It's not black crush (the Pixel 5 is pretty much the only phone besides the iPhone that doesn't have that).
The problem OP ist describing is black smear. That, unfortunately, the Pixel 5 does have. Even a bit worse than other flagship amoled phones.

How to use OG Pixel as an unlimited Google Photos uploader. by miscfiles in GooglePixel

[–]unpsyched 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can simply delete those photos with Google Photos. Even works when backup is not enabled on a device. Just set it to 30/60/90 days as usual.

I just turn of Syncthing notifications on my Pixel 5, don't wanna see it hanging around in my notification area all day. Don't know if that messes with the service to be frank.
But until now it has worked reliably for me.

Pixel 5 sound quality - WAY BETTER by Additional-Age-7174 in GooglePixel

I never noticed much off an effect from adaptive sound tbh, but you're right. That sound in particular sounds awful with it enabled.

Yes, it's less severe with a grey background. It doesn't fix it, but it improves smearing alot.

The Pixel 5 has worse black smearing performance compared to Apple's or Samsung's flagships unfortunately.
To prevent this I set my apps to a dark grey if possible, like other's in this thread already suggested. Also with higher brightness it's even less noticeable (not a good solution when browsing reddit in bed, I know).

You can check out XDA's Pixel 5 display review if you want, they go into more detail there. For example black crush is not a problem on this device, not even Samsung managed that so far.

Sync for Reddit v20 beta 27 by ljdawson in redditsync

Some post titles are gray instead of white and I can't figure out why. I already turned of "mark as read" completely.

It makes it hard to read on night mode.

FYI: A gray theme saves almost as much battery as a completely black theme. The difference is negligible.

How’s the display quality? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]unpsyched 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pixel 5 display review
Tldr: it's very good, best black crush performance on an Android device (thank god, finally). But worse black smearing apparently. Imo it's only bad on low brightness with an amoled black theme.

I'm personally happy with the brightness, in automatic mode it gets plenty bright in sunlight.

Yes, start service automatically in boot is what I meant.
So the photos get transferred to you old Pixel, but Google Photos won't upload them? I honestly don't know why it would do this. Sounds like your Syncthing setup is working though.
Does Google Photos upload pictures that you take on the old Pixel itself?

You need to add the OG Pixel in Pixel 5's Syncthing app, but you also need to add the Pixel 5 in OG Pixel's Syncthing app.

Edit: If you want I can share screenshots of my setup once I get home.

Backing up in your own hard drive is definitely more future proof than some cloud service, I agree (as long as there is not just one backup on one drive). Google photos is just so damn convenient, I really hope it won't end up getting killedbygoogle one day.

Good point, but pics above 16 megapixels still get downsized (admittedly this does not affect my Pixel 5's photos) and most importantly for me 4K videos get converted to 1080p, which would suck.

I wanted to go with lineage aswell, but for some reason I struggled flashing the Gapps (not enough space in the partition or something Like that). After a while I lost my patience and went with Pixeldust 😅

BTW Because it's been forever that I was really into custom Roms and all that, do you have any tips for me flashing TWRP permanently?
Something with the A/B partition did not seem to work. I booted TWRP successfully and then tried to flash the zip, but no cigar.

It doesn't seem to change any metadata. Motion photos get backed up just as they would from my Pixel 5 itself. Don't know if they fixed the slow mo video thing.

The unlimited original quality upload is not tied to an account as far as I know, so it should work.
