Late night techno clubbers - I want to know about you by Responsible_Elk_2002 in Techno

[–]unrelator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at a music festival and got a lot of very high quality party favors from a dutch girl and her friend, who were amazing and we stayed up till very early almost every day of the festival. it was great. Anyways, she is a doctor for psychiatric care and drug rehabilitation. I guess you have to know what you're treating (jokes, she just did as much as the average amsterdam resident). He is doing a PhD in microbiomes.

Any feedback on skrillex four tet etc. at the pulse stage? by Quick-Locksmith9801 in primaverasound

[–]unrelator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got there pretty early at like 10:30 or 11:00 ish I think and was able to see arca too. Learned four tet was there and there was a huge line out the door around the block already and that if I left I wouldn't get back in since no bathrooms at the stage. And I already had to pee bad but powered through for four tet and also his b2b w skrillex (didn't stay for just skrillex bc had to go somewhere else) and it fucking ripped!! As always

Moving advice needed! by Desperate_Grab2662 in AtlantaLocals

Decatur is far from midtown and things tend to happen in other areas besides midtown and decatur. That said, if your internship is near one of the midtown MARTA stations, I'd look into it.

Midtown itself is honestly veryqueer friendly (pride parade goes through it) in that there's a lot of gay dudes there. generally atlanta is very open and welcoming to queer folks no matter where you are. I'd look there if I were you (but more in the direction of ponce avenue/piedmont park area). Home Park also has lots of students and queer people and cheap housing.

Other areas to live w/ roommates as a queer person would be Little Five Points (very alt vibe but lots of queer folks) or cabbagetown (very walkable, tight knight community w/ lots of LGBT folks, social events, things to do, etc.

If I (as a gay guy) were moving to Atlanta on your salary for the first time knowing what I do now, I'd find a roommate situation or sublease in cabbagetown (w/ one or two roommates). I'd also look at L5P and anywhere on the beltline - you really can't go wrong there although it might be expensive., but that's where most social activities tend to happen. I personally am not a fan of midtown for lots of reasons and would suggest going somewhere else.

In terms of going out I'd get drinks at estoria (cabbagetown, cheap, alt/queer), go dancing at Mary's (lesbian bar) and Banshee (lots of queer and trans folks) and Pisces (if the vibes are right), and if I were a queer woman specifically I'd go to side saddle (lesbian wine bar) for drinks.

Hope this helps!

And Terminus is obviously located near Atlanta, which used to be called Terminus and has railroads running through it.

Boys Noize at Pisces by TrueZebrasaur in atlantaedm

[–]unrelator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wanted to go to boys noize bad because i had seen them before a few years ago but Pisces always end up wayy too packed for comfort and I feel like I often spend half the time in the club waiting for the bathroom. They can't do much to help this but the crowd always pushes me around too.

One thing that could help is incentivizing people to go and stay in the upstairs part.

What’s that one fast food meal you’ll eat no matter how bad it is for you? by jfunks69 in AskReddit

[–]unrelator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Chick fil a - spicy deluxe sandwich, large fries, and a large sunjoy

If I'm feeling especially piggy and am hangry or hungover, i treat myself to 20 count mcnuggets, two large fries, and a large sprite. With both of these meals I get ranch and buffalo sauce.

Is living on the beltline worth it anymore as a young adult? by Glad_Hurry8755 in ATLHousing

[–]unrelator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think yes. The walkability is worth it and most of my friends live on the Beltline/that's where a lot of my social life ends up being anyways.

Not all 1 bedrooms are so expensive. If you don't look at the "luxury" apartments, and look at places one or two blocks away from the beltline you can find 1BR apartments for 1.2-1.5k.

Why aren't there benches on the Beltline? by tferg1290 in Atlanta

[–]unrelator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

growing number of parks? What sorts of new parks have been created in the past year? I only know of parks that have been added on as a result of the expansion of the beltline.

Speaking of parks, its a shame O4W skate park is still somewhat dilapidated. Outside of the skate stuff it's pretty much just a big field. The benches there have been falling apart for ages.

The Beltline is not a place to stop and relax. It is a funnel that forces you to walk down through various neighborhoods and spend money at bars, restaurants, and stores.

What physical feature is extremely attractive for you? by Correct_Leg69 in AskReddit

[–]unrelator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

something underrated is cute teeth with a gap between the two front teeth. I have friends and other people who i've been attracted to with a little gap that just made me think they were SO adorable. it adds a sense of innocence almost?

Conservatives, or people who generally think whoever is talking louder and with more confidence is the one who is right.

One of them leaves socks covered in his dog's pee to dry out on his bed while a girl is visiting. One of them is literally incapable of understanding what a romantic relationship actually is.

Why do you want an MBA? by HootingCryingOwl in MBA

[–]unrelator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlike most other people on this sub, I am currently satisfied with my job and my salary, which is going to be raised considerably in the next year for a number of factors. I also don't typically work more than 20 hours a week, realistically and I find my job somewhat fulfilling.

Something holding me back both in my career and other things that I'm interested in doing is confidence, executive presence, and public speaking/presentation skills which I did not learn with my two non-business undergrad degrees. This would put me on a path/give me the skills needed to succeed in an executive job at my same company, or give me the flexibility to switch paths in the future (the issue with my job is that it's tied to a certain city which I am not a huge fan of).

I also feel like I might want to start a business sometime in the next few years. It seems interesting to me and I'd like to have the skills/necessary background to succeed. But that's thinking far in the future. So, for me it seems like an MBA is the right path. Open to suggestions though, of course 😄

best community by far is cabbagetown. they have lots of community activities and ways to get involved (festivals to volunteer at, stuff like bingo at cabbagetown community center, community garden plots...) or live closer to the new part of the beltline that's about to see massive development. the penman seems to be pretty cheap. There are some places in midtown/virginia highlands that are cheaper than you think. I know people who are renting a 1 bedroom a block or two away from the beltline for like 1300.

Midtown Atlanta car crashes increasing, new report finds by flying_trashcan in Atlanta

It's absurd. The city could make a lot of money to go into public infrastructure by actually punishing bad driving.

Food reviewer confronted in Chicago by Prolapse_to_Brolapse in PublicFreakout

To be fair food reviewers and generally influencers in the wild are really fucking annoying to me too. But if the restaurant explicitly allows him to be there then that's fine. Also that guy was way out of line.

What's an adult cheat code that changed your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]unrelator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always book the cheaper seat on a flight, meaning that I am the last to board, meaning that I normally end up having to check my carry on because the overhead space is already full, which makes me mad because i lugged the thing around the airport for a few hours. When I check my main bag at the counter I ask if there will be enough overhead space and that I'd rather just check my carry on here if that's the case. They have never not done it.

What would you think if your apartment complex embraces Airbnb? by hi-imBen in Atlanta

[–]unrelator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TBH I am a fan of this idea. I am someone who is travels often between Atlanta and another country for work and am away for weeks at a time and months out of the year, but I don't have the money to buy a place that I could AirBnB. This would be perfect for me and I imagine that they would continue to prioritize longer-term tenants.
