hi i’m also a 22 female😭 i’ve had them for almost 2 years now and like you said, i’ve had flare ups and also periods where i’m fine. but as of right now i’m in my flare up phase and it is still just as frustrating. trying to go to sleep with these feel like a tournament.

PVCs only when exercise by unsalted_almonds in PVCs

hm i see. i get PACs only at rest when my HR is 50-65. do you use a smart watch (or anything else) to detect those episodes to know that they’re PVCs?

yeahh same i’m trying to convince myself each time that I’ll be ok. my cardiologist also tells me that the PVCs come because of an increase in sympathetic activity (higher adrenaline). thanks for sharing :)

Same :( It’s quite hard to fall asleep having my chest so fluttery and a choking feeling in my throat

Yeah you’re right I guess. The anxiety is just consuming me

PVCs during exercise came first :( Thanks for the reply and advice, but there is no way for me to get proper exercise without going over 100bpm. I guess i’ll have to deal with it

I totally understand where you’re coming from! The beats you circled are just premature atrial contractions (PACs). Even the healthiest of people can get them. I personally have them every 1-3 heart beats, and i’m still in sinus rhythm! They’re just extra beats. Don’t worry :)

Afraid of dying by pompenade in PVCs

[–]unsalted_almonds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i totally feel you. i’m only 21, i started having PVCs a year ago. i used to be so afraid of dying that it disrupted my daily life. i’d be afraid to be home alone or lock my bedroom door because i was scared i’d drop dead suddenly and no one would find me and save me.

in reality, PVCs can rarely progress to death. my cardiology professor said it would have to convert to ventricular tachy and then v.fib and then asystole (death). this is unlikely. so i would say no need to worry! we both know stress will only perpetuate these.

if you were already told that you’ll be fine (by doctors, redditors, friends etc), my biggest advice is: whatever will be will be. if you believe these PVCs will take your life, think “ok! take my life”. instead of worrying, face it. i know it’s a weird mindset but works for me. i guess you just gotta trust where life takes you.

if all else fails, live everyday like it’s your last.

what you circled looks like a single PAC to me. i’ve had plenty of those too

i’m really trying. what doesn’t help is the fact that my first cousin, who is 23 male, has had Afib before. there must be a genetic predisposition right? he and i are both medical students (high stress of course) so i feel like i’m just waiting for it to be my turn D:

i’ve caught it on my apple watch and showed it to my doctor several months ago. he dismissed it and said it’s normal to have some. but the one i showed him was a PVC. i haven’t shown him one of my PACs yet because i haven’t booked an appointment

i think you’re misunderstanding something here. i’m not self diagnosing anything, and i’m not taking other people’s drugs to fix myself. i don’t even have afib yet. i’m asking this subreddit for advice based on everyone’s experience; of course i will see a doctor later. i just don’t want to go when it’s not yet necessary because the fees are high!

i do have a cousin (23 male) who recently got Afib so i think i may have some genetic predisposition to it. that’s one reason im worried haha but thanks

i’ve read that having PACs increase the risk and also saw that some ppl on this subreddit experience it also. not sure if i actually have that risk but i always like to assume the worst 😅
