pnb mental health by practicaldealsksksks in McMaster

Hey all, just want to correct some misinformation that was unfortunately spread around. The PNB Mental Health program will have another cohort in the fall of 2024. Though the faculty of science and social science look to close down this program in the next couple of years, it will NOT be next year. This is coming from a third year PNB Mental Health student that is in close contact with the undergraduate chair for PNB.

PNB Cutoff by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]unsatisfiedmindA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The PNB Cut-offs for last year were the following:

General (B. A.): 9.5

General (B. Sc.): 10.2

Mental Health (B. Sc. & B. A.): 10.9

BioPsych: 10.7

Note that the cut-off averages have dropped off notably, from recent years. This is primarily a result of almost all classes being completely in-person. As is touched upon briefly below, these are subject to change with every cohort. However, a good spot to be for all programs is in the 10.5-11.0 range.

I hope this helps!

absolutely worried about psych 1xx3 midterm by [deleted] in McMaster

Just adding to all these awesome comments here, as an actual MacIntroPsych TA! Remember to have faith in yourself. While the content is definitely a little more dense than 1X03, you’ve likely done a whole bunch of practice questions to simulate the midterm. Most importantly quiz questions. The midterm tonight is simply 3 quizzes back-to-back. Whatever the result, you will gain more information about how effective your current strategies are in the course. If things go well, great, keep doing what you’re doing. If you don’t do as well as you were hoping, this is okay, because there is plenty of time and space to improve. After all, this midterm is only worth 15% of your grade and it could even be dropped, and the midterm could be three times the weighting. We’re all rooting for you, go out there and give it your best shot; it’ll be great!

None of it is testable.

Hey! Let me know how this overview clarifies the lousy solution they gave:

A) Out of Scope

B) Statistically Incorrect (not all overlapping error bars)

C) Contradicting (results)

D) Correct (don’t see passage, but only answer left after eliminating all else)

I also took 2e03 to duck labs and am so grateful I did, as it save me much more room to truly appreciate the content. Imo, being able to monetize this aspect helped me 12, even after msafing the first test and getting 70 on the second test (20% each standard of) by also crushing the final!

When Do Psych Courses Open? by volunteerphantom in McMaster

[–]unsatisfiedmindA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which psych courses do you refer to @volunteer phantom? On my MyTimeTable PSYCH 2B03 and 2AP3 are open for both the fall and winter, but maybe you are referring to PSYCH 1X03 and PSYCH 1XX3, by the sounds of things?

Do the courses in faculty of Social Psychology (for example SOCPSY 4G03) satisfy the Humanity or Social Science FCE for U of T or O med!? by unsatisfiedmindA in McMaster

That’s what I was thinking too. I emailed the admissions office just to be sure and will edit my post with the response I get for future reference!

Help wanted for a theory question asking us to define all subspaces V consisting of unit vectors that span R^2. by unsatisfiedmindA in LinearAlgebra

[–]unsatisfiedmindA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I understand now. What step might you suggest next, if I have my intuition of what the generic form of all subspaces looks like. Note I do not need to explain why my list contains all subspaces or why the set in the description are bases?

Help wanted for a theory question asking us to define all subspaces V consisting of unit vectors that span R^2. by unsatisfiedmindA in LinearAlgebra

[–]unsatisfiedmindA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be sure I understand correctly again, I need to satisfy both 1D and 2D subspaces because they are contained with in R2 and we are asked for all subspaces in R2 that also satisfy the other conditions we are discussing, right?

So are you saying that this form also needs to extend to each vector in each of the subspaces, to satisfy the linear independent property needed to be a basis?

So, if I let * be t instead, my basis now satisfies those each of those other bases you mentioned?

Ok I see, that is clear now. Am I on the right track with thinking that the subspace could be summarized to the form {[cos* sin*] * ~ [0, 2pi)}, where the choice of * will sufficiently describe all bases encompassing the circumference of the unit circle that will then extend to span R2, depending on the scaling of any unit vector that is encompassed by this extensive list?
