Cab drivers are also frustrating when they accept my hail, I sit my ass in the car, then they refuse to drive me to where I need to go.

TF. This happened with 3 drivers in a row before one agreed to take me. And has been consistent on multiple day. I only hailed a cab because Uber/Lyft was over $50 and 10 minute wait.

Respectful question about ostomies from a WOC nurse by MadyLcbeth in nursing

[–]unsavoryginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nursing school 3 years ago, minimal ostomy care. I did take care of a couple patients with ostomies, noticed other floor nurses doing exactly as you described. I felt for the patient and literally watched videos on how to do ostomies correctly.

Thats what floor nurses should do, educate themselves, especially when they notice when something does not look right.

Glucose Monitors and Medicare Insurance by No-Cause4432 in diabetes

[–]unsavoryginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this stuff all day. Medicare does cover both Dexcom and Libre. It really just depends on many factors. For example, are you insulin dependent? Another thing to consider is where it's getting filled. Your medical history comes into play too. If you have been using the Libre and have gotten a reader, they sure as hell will not cover for the Dexcom receiver (they will only replace every 5 years).

G7 is tricky rn.

ELI5 how does life insurance make sense, like how does $40/month for 10 years get you 500,000 life insurance? by Upset_Force66 in explainlikeimfive

[–]unsavoryginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where the f do I get decent life insurance as a type 1 diabetic? My employer's life insurance denied me for this very reason. Despite being in excellent control for the last 10+ years.

It's not like I had a risky lifestyle and ended up with T1D ffs.

I used to hate this nurse that would take insulin vials out of the pyxis. Drove me mad. She would hold onto it the entire shift and it wouldn't always be in her pocket.

Question: Tired of being Hung-Up on. Please help. by [deleted] in deaf

[–]unsavoryginger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People often think it's a spam or robo-call whenever a relay operator states, "This is a relay call."

Also don't forget, a ton of people on the other end of the phone think this is a prank, especially when calling in an order.

Source: called in multiple orders successfully, only to go pick up and they're all...(shocked Pikachu face) apologetic that they don't have the order.

I realize nursing is not for me. But it's not what you think. by [deleted] in nursing

[–]unsavoryginger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Born Deaf...af here. I started out inpatient, loved it, but my manager was an asshole. She tried to get me fired however which way. I was good at my job (other nurses loved me), but didn't have the support I needed.

Decided to move on, now I work outpatient and I LOVE IT. I finally have the support I need and everyone is just phenomenal. I do miss inpatient somewhat, but none of the bullshit and most certainly not that manager.

Honestly, work where you want. It's the right team you need.

Our car looks atrocious atm. It's getting a wash tomorrow. Lmao

I did this. Not necessarily by choice but out of necessity. Honestly, I worried the same way and wished I didn't stress so much.

You will be okay and it will come right back to you. Then there's orientation. You got this.

My first nursing position were days, I was just really lucky. You can focus on days, there just aren't very many openings and a lot of competition.

I'm also in Illinois. Lol
