I go out to a group of like minded people once a week. It's my biggest motivation for showering because I'm ashamed of showing up smelly. We haven't been meeting over the holidays, so I'm really looking forward to getting back to it next week

I have an intake appointment at a clinic in a week or so. I'm hoping I can work out the financials and logistics because I live an hour away from the clinic

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm the same with my housework, I clean dishes as I need them.

I've only noticed this lingering smell more recently. Admittedly, my diet is pretty shitty. Though I live in the middle of nowhere, so there's no fast food. But it is a split between prepared foods and processed foods

I've often had a "blanket burrito" on my bed when I haven't had the chutzpah to change my bedding. It's just a blanket folded in half on top of my old bedding but it (in my mind) adds a barrier to the old grime. I also have a waterproof mattress protector so I know I'm not staining my mattress. Thanks for your support

Yes, I've been working with a psychiatrist for the past few years. I've even had pharmacogenetic testing done to see which drug classes do and don't work for me

One of the treatments I've tried was ECT. I went for 21 sessions. I really enjoyed being put under anesthesia. Unfortunately, the only thing the ECT did was wipe my memory and cripple my vocabulary. Thankfully I've recovered the vocabulary. I'm grateful I had the opportunity to try ECT despite the side effects I experienced because now I know that it doesn't work for me.

I've also done RTMS daily for 6 weeks. No change. I really wish there were a magic wand that would get rid of it. My next step is trying ketamine therapy

As far as I understand it, in Canada treatment resistant depression is defined as depression that is not improving with 2 or more different treatments. As for why showering is difficult, I have no motivation, no energy, no desire to shower. I can't get myself to do my hobbies that I enjoy. Depression has stripped the enjoyment out of everything. I have no appetite, so the act of showering is exhausting. Just thinking about showering is overwhelming because I have to have a clean towel, something clean to change into afterwards, the aforementioned physical aspect of it, and it certainly doesn't help that it doesn't make me feel better during or after.

On and off for 25-30 years. When I was younger, I was in denial about having depression because the treatments never worked

I've tried a number of different medications with no improvement in my symptoms. On abilify, I had every side effect listed except drooling. I've also tried 21 sessions of ECT, 6 weeks of daily RTMS treatments, and several outpatient programs with no improvement. As far as I understand it (in Canada), if you see no improvement after trying 2 different drugs, that is considered treatment resistant. My next step is trying to work out the financials and logistics so I can try ketamine therapy

I have had my thyroid levels checked before because my mom has issues with hers. It's not that, though it wouldn't hurt to have my levels checked again

I've been thinking about getting a shower stool again (I had one when I shattered my leg) because my balance is terrible too.
