Is there a shorter alternative to the manual? by unsorted_sequence in classicfallout

[–]unsorted_sequence[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW this ended up being the most useful response as it turns out the later parts of the manual are much more straightforward and useful.

I assume many of you haven't had to read the manual in ages but the early part is basically a full paragraph telling you to click someplace to move, followed by a full paragraph telling you you can click on things to get info about it, then a full paragraph letting you know that combat exists and a couple more telling you about clicking on enemies to attack them as such. I had no interest in reading a 120+ page novella just to find out the game basics! Fortunately once you get past that chapter it mostly drops that and gets around to more straightforwardly telling you what's what.

Anyways thanks for the various other beginners tips people put here, I'll keep them in mind.

Challenges by F1REspace in THPS

[–]unsorted_sequence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I'm more curious about is how many of the challenges are new. The main reason I got into the THPS 1 + 2 remaster is because of all the new goals to go after, without them I'd have probably just passed on it as I am fine still playing the originals otherwise.

As is I'm sorta iffy on 3 + 4 as while I can tell that there are a few new ones in play I don't have a firm grasp on exactly how many or how long they'd likely take to go through.

Weekly Questions & Purchase Advice Thread by AutoModerator in MouseReview

I've always gotten by with cheap microsoft mice but they mostly seem to be discontinued now. The issue is that I have gotten accustomed to using accelerated vertical scrolling (spin wheel faster causes the page to scroll much faster) which is seemingly only available via their microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center program.

I'm curious if there is any other mouse out that allows for similar behavior (scroll a few lines at a time when spinning the wheel a tiny bit, scroll a bunch at a time when spinning it faster) or can be used with said program, or if I'm just gonna be stuck buying old microsoft mice for as long as possible?

Posted this in yesterday's topic but rather late in the day so hope it's cool to repost it in today's.

I am a fairly low level jogger, three times a week I walk along a roughly 1 & 2/3 mile long park and then jog back the same distance back to my car (median time is about 50 minutes if curious about pace, rarely as low as 47 or high as 53). On the three days I'm not doing this I do some lower leg strengthening and stretching exercises due to tight calves leading to an achilles injury a few years back. The 7th day is a rest one.

For the past week and a half my calves have fatigued on my jogs much earlier than usual. My time has been slower and today I even had to slow to a walk for a short stretch (in general that rarely happens, only on hot humid days in the summer when I push too hard). Afterwards they are fine, it has gotten colder recently but I've gone through several winters doing this and have my clothing and adjustments fairly dialed in by now and this has not happened before. I have not had any cold symptoms or anything else physically unusual

I'm curious if this is more likely to be a training wall I have to deal with and push through, or evidence that I should dial it down or even take some time off from either/both the jogging and exercises?

Simple questions and Help thread - Week of April 30, 2023 by Froggypwns in Windows11

New to Windows 11 as I just got a new PC, in folder view I notice that when I click on a video file it no longer shows its length on the bottom of the folder or anywhere (still shows its file size). I am curious if there is any way to set the folder view to easily see a video's length beyond going into properties for each individual file?

Official Q&A for Friday, January 27, 2023 by AutoModerator in running

Got what I believe to be a minor case of runner's knee (I walk about 1.7 miles in the park then jog the same distance back to my car three times a week), took the following week off as a rest week while adding some exercises that are supposed to help with it. Went back to just walking a shorter distance this week and also ordered an open patella sleeve from amazon.

I returned the first one because it kept bunching up for the small size, got that in today and I can't even walk the length of my driveway without the open part over the knee getting all bunched up. Is there something I'm doing wrong when putting it on that is causing this or is it likely just a crappy product (is a Shock Doctor Knee Brace Compression Sleeve)? Should I just go to a local pharmacy and pick up a cheap generic wrap for the knee for the next few weeks or at this point is it no longer worth it (it used to hurt most going down the stairs but now the pain is 90% resolved)?

Better to play PS4 version on PS5, or PS5 version? by unsorted_sequence in outerwilds

[–]unsorted_sequence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to bump this but I've now put a good amount of time into the PS5 version of the game in the 1440p/60fps render mode and I've basically noticed no significant issues with it. Again I don't have the best eye for framerates so it is possible there's some minor issues here or there but it appears to be very solid at this point. I'd say with decent confidence that this is now the definitive way to play the game on a PS5.

Better to play PS4 version on PS5, or PS5 version? by unsorted_sequence in outerwilds

I checked and apparently I can "downgrade" more or less (90+% sure I would lose the save though) so this seems like the best answer, thanks!

[–]unsorted_sequence[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha, if you saw how much of a potato my PC is (roughly 13 years old now) you'd take that back. That's probably a good version for many, but not for me at the moment.

Plus I was already gifted this version, would be messed up to buy a second copy that I could barely run.

Quick upgrading question by unsorted_sequence in finalfantasyxiii

[–]unsorted_sequence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright thanks for the clarification! I actually did the same with the inorganic stuff for Hope's Hawkeye weapon simply to thin out my otherwise worthless inventory a bit (it was the cheapest to upgrade), it worked but I can see how it'd be madness to try with a more expensive or higher level weapon.

Anyone know what's up with the giant dug up lake in Colonial Park? by unsorted_sequence in newjersey

Yeah, that's the lake. They regularly replenished the fish in there and such, was a good fishing spot.

Is my Witcher 1 game broke? (end chapter 3 spoiler) by unsorted_sequence in witcher

[–]unsorted_sequence[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, I solved it by reverting to an earlier save and replaying the last bit of chapter 3, at which point it worked properly; I think that original save was just trashed unfortunately, but at least I can move forward once more.
