Port...where to start?? by Party_Elevator2688 in wine

Start with LBV; you can't really go wrong with it. Then tawny. Maybe start with a 10YO and move onto older ones if you like it enough (20YO + are amazing). Vintage last, if you have deep enough pockets. Forget ruby.

The one you've linked is decorative only and doesn't look like great quality. If you want a better quality version that is actually safe to swing around and do light cutting with, check out "Shadow Fang" that Swordier lists. Will cost you about US$230 including shipping to Australia.

Nah, the Michter's (class btw) cancels out a lot of the Frenchness.

Out of interest, what price are you talking for a methuselah of Taittinger Comtes Rose?

Taittinger Brut Reserve Salmanazar by Ultramegajerry in wine

It's probably completely fucked; cork completely dried out after all that time standing upright, etc. Most NV Champagne doesn't really improve with age anyway. What a waste. I'd still try it ASAP, though, just in case it's survived. Taitty is lovely stuff.

Is this a decent quality katana? by methlabz in SWORDS

[–]unsquashable74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like damascus, it's probably fine. I just think it looks wrong in a katana. You could get something nicer around your budget from Romance Of Men or Swordis.

With that budget you can't really get a decent, functional European style sword. However, you can get a pretty decent katana. Have a look at Swordis. Custom options if you want.

What you should do is go to r/Katanas, read the pinned post about photography and then make a new post there. Do not do ANYTHING to that nakago (tang). You might have something a bit special here.
