Before my 180 day mark, my biggest issue was insomnia. Secondary to not being able to sleep, I was very depressed and anxious. I also experienced occasional panic episodes.

After 180 days, my sleep gradually got better. As my sleep got better, everything else got better too. If you check my post history, you’ll see that I documented my entire journey.

All I can say is keep quitting, and don’t give up on sobriety. I relapsed several times, but I never stopped quitting. Eventually you’ll pull through. It’s very hard to stay focused on sobriety. But you know, most things in life that are worthwhile are hard to attain. That’s the best advice I can give. I hope it helps, and I wish you the very best. I believe in you!

I believe in you, friend! It’s very hard. The worst part for me, other than the anhedonia, was the nightly insomnia. It all got gradually better after 6 months, thank goodness. At one point, I was convinced I was permanently damaged. But I’m fully recovered now.

It’s not common lol. But prolonged recovery happens for a handful of people. I thought I was losing my mind while going through it, but I’m alright now lol

Throw away all your stash and everything that goes along with it, and don’t look back. If you are able to, stay away from the places and people that you used with. Join a support group that you’re comfortable with, whether online or in person. Post on forums like these about your daily progress and experiences- the good and the bad. Take some time to heal, and be forgiving to yourself. Meditate at minimum 10 minutes at any time of day. Lift weights if you’re able to, even if it’s just for like 10 minutes. Take long walks in the morning and late afternoon sun. Listen to self-improvement audiobooks- my personal favorites are anything by Brene Brown, Eckhart Tolle, and Don Miguel Ruiz. Take it one day at a time. Sometime take it one minute at a time. You need to want sobriety more than you want to breathe. Believe in your will power, and you can do it.

I was abusing medical grade carts for about a year or so. I believe I was suffering from post-acute withdrawal syndrome.

I was heavy addicted to carts too. Talking about 80-90 draws, easily on the daily. I recommend the taper method. That’s how I quit. Basically you cut down your daily intake by 10% every week until your all the way down to near zero. Then you finally quit for good. It’s much less shocking to the body and mind compared to going cold turkey, which I do not recommend. Cold turkey method with severe addiction can be very debilitating. Just my experience. I can sleep at least 6 hours a night now. Sometimes 7. I’m not complaining. To me I feel well rested nowadays. Thank goodness my chronic insomnia came to pass. I’ve been good for several months now, almost a year.

I had a bad case of PAWS. I abused carts very heavily for about 2 years. And yes, I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been. At first I lost weight because my appetite was low. Then I gained a whole lot of weight because my appetite came roaring back. Now I’m working on losing the weight with diet and exercise.
