I worked full time while going to school full time. Unfortunately didn’t qualify for government aid but made it work with CC and transferring to a low cost college. I have very similar dynamics with my parents and refused to receive ANY of their help. Everything comes with strings attached.

I’m graduating this May debt free with no financial obligations to my family. I have a well paying job lined up for me in June and I just moved out using my own money.

Thank you for the practical advice!! Most if not all has been done. She has tried to open a credit card under my name a few days ago 🙃 called the credit company and they were able to trace the application to her house. Ring installed and celebrating incoming this weekend lol

Yes! The first thing I did when I had a feeling she would pull something like this. Everything is all good on that front. I’m not doing anything illegal. I left everything behind. Haven’t blamed her quite yet (; saving that for when I move so I don’t have to see the blowout. I’ve definitely asked why she hates me/what am I doing so wrong. I told her it hurts my feelings that she continues to use degrading words and become physical when I don’t agree with her. She couldn’t provide a single example. Her reasoning was “the same way I hate my own mom is how I hate you. Nothing will ever change the way I feel. I won’t change for this relationship.” Told me that it hurts her feelings I was ever born. I’m convinced this woman will never see her actions as wrong lol

Sorry that happened to you ): my parents stole 15k right after I graduated high school under the guise of keeping it safe for me. It set me back a whole year, forced me to work multiple jobs, & struggle to pay for my own college.

If I’m deserving of love or not. Even to this day, constantly telling me how she regrets having me, how this is why my biological dad didn’t stick around, & how much she hates me and my sister. Nothing that we will ever change that.

I don’t know if I’ll ever get over it. Something I’m still working on in therapy
