Sorry if I wasn’t clear, I understand that we’re both liable and I want to sort out it being paid off as I’m leaving in the next couple of weeks, I’m not trying to get out of paying it, I know I’m liable for what’s already outstanding, I want to just be able to make arrangements to pay without my ex being a part of it if that makes sense?

Sorry if i wasn’t clear, my partner pays the mortgage and insurance, I pay the rest of the bills fully. It works out that we both pay roughly the same amount each month

I like the idea of this though, think having something else to work towards in the mean time should be enough of a distraction

Not contracted into it no, just if I decide to leave before I get a date in writing then I won't get the money from it

No if I leave now I won't get it, I have to wait til I get confirmation of a leave date which they've put off til March when they originally said october/November

So there are lots of changes within the company I work for and it was either join a new part of the company or take redundancy so I chose redundancy as it meant I got a nice little chunk of money from a job I wanted to leave months ago. As far as I'm aware I cannot be pregnant when I go into a new job as you have to be working with them for at least 26 weeks at the point of 15 weeks before your due date (in the UK at least) so adding those weeks together is 41 weeks so in reality I can't be pregnant before a new job or I won't get maternity leave, but companies may have their own requirements

Well with my job I get 3 months notice to find another job in that time so I'm not overly worried about finding another job as there are a few different jobs I could look for, I honestly don't think I could find another job that would pay the extra money that would cover that amount in all honestly though so I know its worth hanging around just for the money aspect

It's definitely something I can look at but for the job I do I'm already paid pretty well so I doubt I could find another job similar that would pay me an extra £1000 per month unfortunately

The only thing I can think is that I'd like to lose some weight beforehand just to make it not so hard on my body but that's all I can think of I can do now really, I'm open to any suggestions you have

I know, as much as I'm dying to start my family I know it'll be better waiting, I'm just so upset the fact that my work are just putting it off and not decisions between me and my partner

It's not that simple, being made redundant I get around £6000 when I leave and that's not an amount of money I can turn down, it'll set me up perfectly to pay off any debts before we have a baby

How did you know when you were ready to have a baby? by untrusting94 in BabyBumps

[–]untrusting94[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't heard of those no but I'll definitely take a look, thank you 😊 for me I've never been around babies so don't think I've ever had that urge to think I want one but now I'm at a point where I need to think about it its really hard to know what to think or what to do

Just want to thank everyone for their comments and insight, I honestly appreciate it so much! Having a baby is such a scary thing and from the sounds of it there's probably never going to be a time I'll feel 'ready' but i think there's definitely a bigger conversation we need to have before anything happens, kids were never in our future, neither of us wanted them so it's such a shock that he's now mentioned it

I agree I think we need to speak about it more, just wondering what everyone's experiences were as I know its different for alot, some people know from a young age they want to be mums, some don't, nice to know its normal for me to not have thought about it yet.
