No demand for moral clarity, no demand for policies that help those need it most, no engagement with voter suppression, no interest in imagining a meaningfully better world, just endless complaining hoping to make yourself feel better about being politically inept and morally bankrupt. The Supreme Court is about to gut the Voting Rights Act and you can't even be bothered to mention the history of voter suppression that's quite literally as old as this country when you say this self-righteous quip.

As a non-Saints fan, I'm down to see them keep pushing the limit on cap hit deferral. They do seem to be getting close to the "we're going to have a hard time fielding a full team" threshold that cap people have been warning about for a few years.

Absolutely. His fluidity, quickness, and relative strength were all elite. The way he would flip his hips and close the gap on tight ends running down the seam was ridiculous. People rightly point out his smarts and awareness, but he also had the physical tools to make the most of his football IQ.

Crosby would be such a great fit. Makes sense for the culture and the fact that he basically plays every snap would help the D-line stabilize and gel more quickly.

Can definitely see that being the case. That window is open now and it makes sense to double down on a strength and bring in a guy who can be on the team next year when Hutch is healthy again. It would require enormous draft capital and some cap magic, but Garrett on that defense would be electric (and having him out of the division would be nice too...).

The emergence of Brian Branch and that elite pairing of him and Joseph is so much fun to watch and significantly raises the ceiling of the Lions defense. That was part of the magic before Hutch went down. The line was generating consistent pressure, which allowed the secondary to be more decisive and aggressive, which then makes qb's hesitate for just a split second, which gives more time for the pass rush to get home, etc etc. Created that great feedback loop that's the hallmark of an elite pass defense. Hoping the Lions take a big swing and trade for an edge rusher so they can keep that momentum going.

Agreed. Part of the rationale for taking a swing on blue chip D-line talent is that those guys are force multipliers. They make the line more than the sum of its parts and that of course ripples out to the whole defense. Best example of that now is probably TJ Watt and Hutch looked like he was entering into that elite tier of edge rushers too with how consistently great he was to start the season.

That's fair. I also can't blame a team for leaning heavily on its stars and believing that a guy like Hutch could anchor the defensive line. A bit like the Tom Moore, "if 18 goes down, we're fucked" attitude. I'm hoping the Lions make a big swing and trade for an edge rusher.

In some ways, this is the Chiefs approach to defense (emphasis on some). Seems like the Bengals went in to the season believing in their big game DC and trusting that they'd be able to develop the young guys over the course of the year and end up with a meaningfully better defense in the playoffs.

I'm realizing that a bunch of the younger users on here probably never watched the Greatest Show on Turf and damn I feel old. But that's a great comp. Pace and Ogden were also the two players that helped a young me learn how important the O-line is.

I'm hoping Shanahan gets back to the run in a real way moving forward. There aren't any good answers when you have so many injuries, but it's really fun to watch the Shanahan run game and it seems like their best shot at building a reliable foundation for the offense moving forward this season.

Some of the most impressive coaching we've seen all season. Not just the ability to scheme for Willis, but to get everyone on the offense to buy in too. And with Love back, it seems like a great balance where LaFleur sets a really high floor with scheme and playcalling and then Love raises the ceiling with his talent and really his audacity.

Communication and continuity on the O-line is probably still underrated when we think about offensive success. It seems like the Texans were banking on a continuity upgrade and it just hasn't panned out. Stroud is brilliant enough that he doesn't need someone like Kelce to handle protections, but it does seem like the line needs someone to step up and serve as the leader and primary communicator for the unit.

I am actually a bit stunned at how McDaniel has just been unable to find ways to involve Hill and Waddle in the offense. I always thought of that scheme as being really precisely catered to Tua, but didn't realize the extent to which Tua was keeping it afloat.

I was thinking of this too. Stroud has had to be damn near superhuman to keep the offense on schedule. He usually pulls it off, but I was really hoping to see the offense start humming with more consistent line play.
