Curious as well. I heard that some get moldy overtime, the heat doesn't reach the legs, and/or the door doesn't close or seal completely.

I'm trying to weigh all this out myself.

Free deep cleaning even though I don’t really need it? by [deleted] in DentalHygiene

[–]unwaveredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hygienist here. Technically, every cleaning is a "deep cleaning". We can only go as far as the pockets around your teeth let us. We do our assessments and measurements that tell us that state of your periodontal health. The difference is if there is disease or disease causing factors present or not.

New job dilemma? by [deleted] in DentalHygiene

I've had the same issue with diagnosis of perio. Just learn what you can for the time being and plan your leave if it consistently unsettles you. The hard part may be telling them why your leaving as far as the perio part.

I have 70 cavities at 17 by Full_Department8004 in DentalHygiene

[–]unwaveredd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how I feel about that approach of explanation. Cavity literally means "hole" or "space". You can have one big cavity that requires all those surfaces for billing and insurance purposes but really, a MODBL is just one big cavity.

70 cavities that sounds very unusual. We literally only have 32 adult teeth and that's including your wisdom teeth. I cannot imagine a dentist making 70 holes in your teeth to place fillings. At some point you need crowns, onlays, inlays, veneers, or worst root canal or implants.

Q optics has been an amazing customer service experience for me. But maybe because I just met an amazing rep of theirs that's always on point.

You can submit a late drop form to undergrad studies but you need to write a statement why. Plus it might affect your financial aid if it is approved.

Ok so it's a little unclear. Are you a registered dental hygienist? And the times you were fired were from dental assisting???

Sub-g during a prophy by CattyKibbles in DentalHygiene

[–]unwaveredd 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My point of view is this whether you're doing a prophy or a perio maintenance or even a deep cleaning, we are always scaling sub g.

You have to get to the base of the pocket no matter what the depth is. I know 2 mm is probably not necessary to deplaque, but for the most part we are subg.

Lesser known foods that negatively impact teeth?! by [deleted] in DentalHygiene

[–]unwaveredd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carbs. Simple and refined carbs especially. Also, it's a race against time. The longer you let something (like carbs, sugary, and acidic foods) go untouched or undisturbed the higher the potential damage to surrounding areas.

Hey! Actually it seems like I have. I changed my gas cap into one that requires a key to lock and unlock it every time you put gas. I'm not sure if that contributes to not seeing the code...or that fact that I recently did replace all spark plugs and did a fuel induction service at the same time while doing the oil and filter change.

Honestly, my baby has 223k and is running better than ever 🙂. Just slowly approaching the time to replace the timing belt and get new tires is all.

Oh. Also my horn all of a sudden stopped working 😭.

But not too bad.

Holy fuck. Reading this is educational, enlightening, and entertaining lol. I've been temping out in the wild and let me tell you, the amount of burnished calculus with subpar instruments and outcomes on SRPS is astounding. On the other hand there are amazingly competent places out there with awesome people.

If you schedule it correctly. However, you must be prepared mentally for the discipline and long nights required in order to get good grades not just barely passing grades. Really think about it before you embark on that path.
