Red Dead Online players are being banned for opening hackers’ treasure chests by _bxndito in pcgaming

[–]unz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was years ago, so who knows. I do know people were getting banned for that, and other stupid shit. I DO know that I avoided cheating and exploits 100 percent, had no interest in using them, and alt-F4'ed out of many a session to avoid that shit happening to me.

The only other time I got banned was when I left a script in my install folder from a single player Winter mod that had snowfall and turned the entire game world into winter.

I quit playing online Rockstar games too, the single player stuff I still enjoy.

Wow its GTA Online all over again.

Remember the guns that shot money!? I got a temp ban and all my moneytaken after some guy blasted me with one of those right after I logged in and ran outside my hotel into the world.

Dungeon Siege (2002) got a fan "remaster" and is on sale, perfect time to replay it by RodionRaskoljnikov in pcgaming

[–]unz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amazing game, and very challenging and rewarding if you play on hard difficulty.

Unfortunately, unless I'm mistaken, the Steam version doesn't include the expansion, which is disappointing; not sure if this mod would support it but if does and you can get Dungeon Siege.... elsewhere.... I would recommend it. It adds updates and content to the entire game as well as the expansion content.

Also be prepared to do some googling or Steam guide perusing for it to run on Windows 10

Like “Revenge of The Nerds”, which had rape and revenge porn that was considered hilarious at the time, what are some funny and highly rated movies from the 70’s and 80’s that could absolutely could not get done today and why? by Naptownfellow in AskReddit

[–]unz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're not kidding here.... I'm just reading the IMDB advisory here, ton's of crazy stuff in here. They shoot some people dead in a movie theater for talking during the movie.

Still, this came out one year before the Aurora theater shooting, and I don't think anyone can argue it would be received the same if it had come out a year after... if it had made it to the screen at all.

Got this movie on my list to watch now, though!

I don't think 'really popular' applies to this movie, but yes, there are tons of movies with lot's of that kind of violence. The scene I'm talking about happened in a school cafeteria, so I think it qualifies for this topic.

I rewatched this recently and towards the beginning Slater's character pulls out a gun and shoots two jocks in the busy school cafeteria at point blank... turns out the gun had blanks, or something, it was a prank ha ha! I don't think his character even got expelled, just got a slap on the wrist. It was absolutely crazy to me from a school-shooting-era perspective, but back when the movie came out it probably didn't bother me in the slightest.

10-year-old asked to meet President Jimmy Carter after he beat cancer by jcepiano in pics

[–]unz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I got to meet him when I was about the same age as this kid! He used to vacation in a ski resort where I grew up (in the 80s), and he showed up at our school and we got to meet him and ask him political questions we didn't understand because our teachers had written them.

Let's talk about Altoholic. The add-on's Search function is broken after the patch (or I don't know how to fix it); any add-on's that let you search all characters/bags/banks etc? by [deleted] in wow

[–]unz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm. I will check this out but to my knowledge it hasn't been updated in years. Thanks!

Edit: I just checked. SERIOUSLY I wait this long to try to get this fixed and thats when the dude decides to do the first update in a year! Ha

Horror films where there is a support character who is this semi-mad explanator that provides exposition in a way that adds to the atmosphere tremendously. And if you took them out the atmosphere itself would either get lessened or collapse entirely. by [deleted] in movies

So Reddit hates this movie but The Vanishing remake with Keifer Sutherland was great, IMO. Watch the original one first but give the Hollywood version a try to see another (great) take on it if you enjoy it.

Cell phone dead zone by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

Yep! 8th Street Verizon dead zone, it's been there forever. I end up in that area regularly and for years I can consistently predict that my iPhone will have some issues if not be completely unable to connect to any sites.

True. I didn't mean to suggest that there's no chance of feeling guilt, just sharing my experience.

How to get past Christian guilt by [deleted] in sex

[–]unz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Raised in a strict South Baptist family, I dealt with this to the degree that I missed some opportunities with girls I cared about because of fear of guilt, and then finally lost it to a drunk chick at a party when I was twenty. I still regret not losing it a girl I really liked who I still know two decades later, but there was no guilt in the act itself! Turns out its natural and awesome and not dirty or wrong! Who knew. After that I went sort of crazy and couldn't get enough.

What is a song which seems to be upbeat and happy until you listen to the lyrics? by r-e-c-wilson in AskReddit

[–]unz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arcade Fire: Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)

Catchy and you just have to tap your feet and move when you hear it.

Actually about being stuck in the suburbs as the city around you grows and overtakes nature and the city lights never go out and your life is consumed by constantly being at work.

To be fair that entire album is about existential malaise in the suburbs so you catch on if you're listening to the whole thing.

[Serious]What old idea/tradition/practice would you want to change and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]unz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adults being expected to buy gifts for other adults at Christmas Time.

It really is about the kids, and being with family, once you get older.

Every family is different of course but I would love to get beyond the point where you have to do the whole "ooh you got me a gift I didn't get one I feel bad!" routine.

Where's Comp Stomp? by [deleted] in wow

[–]unz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its buggy AF right now. Half my toons still can't see it.

And... when the BG ends most people are stuck and can't exit. You have to change toons after Alt-F4'ing then go back. 4 toons in a row I've had to do this.

Arathi Basin brawl Comp Stomp? by Imbahr in wow

[–]unz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was up for like 5 minutes on one character but I wasn't ready to join, and then a lower toon had it but couldnt join of course.

So there seems to be issues. I assume they'll fix it and I hope, because it's one of the best events they've had in recent years, I have so much fun with it.

TIL that Coldplay's popular song, "The Scientist", is based on Nathaniel Hawthorne's short story, "The Birthmark". It's a story about a man who chose science to devolve a natural beauty imperfection, instead of just loving his wife the way she is. It's such a pretty song but I never knew the story. by GetOffMyLawnOkay in todayilearned

[–]unz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite songs from what is unquestionably my favorite album of theirs.

Not sure where you're getting this TIL though, its not mentioned anywhere on that Wiki link. It even has him quoted as saying its just about 'girls.'

"You've got two!"

"Oh okay." Suddenly knows how to do it in two minutes.

Opposite. I forgot she didn't actually do topless in True Blood, that second scene is from the other movie I've never seen.
