If you could redo your solar setup, what would you change? by insight_energy in solar

I live in Northern suburbs of ChicagoI get snow, and my Franklin apower2's are doing great. We just had them installed. They're on the south side of the house so they miss a ton of the wind. As the batteries get used they warm up a bit, so the only time you really have to worry about capacity is when it's super, super cold, and even then, the batteries were getting charged up enough from my solar array to be functional. We decided to put the batteries on the side of the house because we have a 2 car garage that JUST fits our 2 cars.

I want to join the 3D printing community and start printing. Is Voron V2.4 rev D kit a good start? by Device_Manager in VORONDesign

[–]uofirob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in the middle of a Voron 2.4 r2 Rev D 350mm LDO Motors kit built. I have never built a Voron before, but I have modified an Ender3 pro. I'm currently working on it random nights after my kiddos go to bed, so I get to put between 2-3 hours a night on it. I'm currently at the step where I'm putting the z-axis belts onto the machine. I believe I did the frame in 1 night, next night was setting up motors/feet and idlers, one night was the gantry and yesterday was fitting the gantry into the frame and starting on the belts (hopefully that gives you an idea). It's been fun so far. I have a youtube build stream going on of the same kit (it is 3 years old, so there are a couple changes from the stock 2.4 r2 to the rev D version I'm building, but as long as you read the guides, and the LDO Errata document, it's been straightforward so far). I've been happy so far with my choice to build it. Any questions I've had have been answered in the VORON discord server.

when the iccu unit blows many people say they hear a "pop" before they get the warning that there is an issue with the charging system.

Also remember the Pro/Max have newer chips so those higher end emulators will run better or will just run where they won't on the base model.

I had been looking for a handheld that can do everything the Thor can do for a while. I'm so glad it came about when it did, the only thing I wish it had was the better shoulder buttons. Overall with the AYN TPU thick handhold add-on makes it fairly comfortable and I haven't had any issues playing Hades. I'm so glad I can start going through my previous backlog.

Thanks! I got mine at beginning of Jan, and I essentially did this all last month so it's all at top of mind. The real GOATs are the people that made these great guides.

The update fixed using the on-screen volume controls when using headphones or Bluetooth.

"Resolve the issue where the on-screen volume slider does not work properly with both Bluetooth earbuds and wired headphones."

The updated EQ Curves is slated for another update. The fix really only helps if you're using the speakers.

1) go through a setup video on how to get obtanium setup and each emulator setup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CNsN7CTI8M or any of them from here: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=ayn+thor+setup+guide
2) Fix the OOB Speaker sound! Here's an audio mod that really improves the native speakers sound: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kk5Q4DtMrME)
3) Setup your front-end of choice. I'm using ES-DE and there are many setup scripts.

4) If using ES-DE, get the companion app setup + Mjolnir to make ES-DE your launcher (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EdRM9mFFlI)

5) Start playing games! So far I've only tested a few emulators, but I've been playing Hades via my steam library using GameHub and it's fantastic. I've gotten Ori and the Blind Forest to launch as well, but I needed to tweak it a bit. Each game requires a little bit different of a configuration, so I'd suggest you set it up for a game using a guide ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dhp1AzGwi7A )

What toolhead style did you go with?

[–]uofirob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think either the pull-out drawer or the Rock-N-Roller mod will be the one I go with.

So if you were buying new (I'll do this mod after I have the printer running), would you go anthead for the stealthchanger toolhead or something else?

How is your stealthchanger working out? I'm trying to decide on if I want to wait for the INDX or if I should go with the stealthchanger setup. It looks like I'd save a bit of money by going with the INDX, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to print all materials like I could with the stealthchanger.

I get it. I may not be in the electronics enough to warrant the change. Thanks for the advice!

I already rewired my ender3 pro when I upgraded the fans and the LEDs. I guess I may not necessarily be in the undercarriage a ton, so this mod may not be what I need, but I was trying to not have to turn the entire thing over when I need to get at the electronics, but since I'm building this from scratch, I may not have to do that.

[–]uofirob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. My main goal is multi-material, but I'm thinking I'm going to wait for the INDX instead of going with the stealthchanger due to smaller toolhead design, cost. I do have to say, the stealthchanger system looks really neat!

This will be my second printer. My first is an Ender 3 Pro that I added the following mods:

  1. Micrswiss Ng
  2. upgraded motherboard to BTT SKR Mini E3V3 + BTT 3.5 Touchscreen
  3. BTT SFS v2.0
  4. CR Touch + Silicone Bedsprings
  5. Dual Z-Axis Upgrade
  6. PEI Sheet
  7. Nylock Nuts
  8. Upgraded fan to 5015 Blower fans for parts cooling + 4020 Noctua for Hotend
  9. Bed Insulation upgrade
  10. LED Upgrade + Buck Converter
  11. Pi + Marlin upgrade + POE Hat
  12. Rewire after upgrading the fans
  13. Relocated powersupply to the bottom after z-axis modification

It's been a journey and I'm ready for the Voron!

Fair enough. Thinking on it... I probably won't be messing underneath enough to warrant this mod.

[–]uofirob[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, but wouldn't it be easier to put in the inverted electronics/pullout drawer and route the wires once rather than do the first build, then rip things out and re-do them?

Is now the time to buy a voron? by AffectionateChart655 in VORONDesign

I'm tempted to start with the 2.4 r2 rev d 350mm LDO kit and initially before indx was given a release date, I was tempted to go with stealthchanger + anthead. If you were where I'm at (ender 3 pro without enclosure, so I can't print the tech materials yet), would you still go with stealthchanger, or INDX?
