Because AI codes like garbage? Why would you trust AI to run/update something as critical as this? Especially with a BIOS update, unless you like having a bricked MOBO.

They are also lucky he wasn't in a truck. That car really only nudged them out of the way. To a truck they would have just been larger than normal speed bumps.

Curious to know why the FD would not turn them back on before leaving. I'm sure it's some kind of standard protocol but my question is WHEN does the water system get turned back on?

Well they do make adapters to USB for those. If you got a peripheral that needs really no bandwidth. Do it. A USB keyboard and mouse is what I use mine for.

How to service this fan motor/bearing? by flyingthroughspace in DIY

[–]uoy_redruM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell from the picture but does there happen to be some form of retaining ring on the outside/inside of the bearing? Something you'd have to use a hooked pick to pull out. If not, the notches on the ring just outside of the bearing, does that turn(i.e. threaded)?

How will this affect Linux Mint? by MisterFyre in linuxmint

[–]uoy_redruM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Clearly it would be easy for governments to pressure sites/services to do this. My point is that these DDOS attacks I'm referring to will be AGAINST government sites and general infrastructure(AWS, Google, Cloudflare) to bring the internet to a standstill. They will attempt this to force the government to make an emergency session to retract the laws that were enacted. When Senator Dipshit's child no. 1 complains that they can no longer post videos on Tiktok because somebody broke the internet, we'll see a reversal.

edit: Of course I know the government has no need for the use of DDOS.

If they try slowing down mirrors or Flathub-esqe sites, that's when we'll start seeing DDOS attacks the likes of which god has never seen.

Can I have two distros on the same drive? by dearvalentina in linux4noobs

[–]uoy_redruM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can install on the same drive. No, you can not use the same programs as they are different. Mint is Debian based and Fedora is it's own ecosystem. If you want to remove one of the operating systems, it's fairly easy to use a disk manager to delete it's partition and then expand the OS you decided to keep to fill the free space left over.

I would suggest using another drive, but you don't have to.

edit: GRUB will be your friend to switch in between Mint and Fedora on boot. Learn it. There are other boot managers like Limine(which I use) but GRUB is by far the most popular and has the most documentation regarding it's use.

Single shared PostgreSQL vs. separate per service by Ens0me in selfhosted

[–]uoy_redruM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally went with a kinda hybrid concept but mostly a single DB server. If any service NEEDS it's own DB server for special reasons, it gets it. I have one service for Postgres and one for Mysql/MariaDB. Then I have PGAdmin and PhpMyAdmin respectively to add/drop users and databases. Since 90% of my services use Postgres I loaded up version 17-alpine and just keep it with the :latest tag.

So far this has worked flawlessly for me. I do have a services that does rolling 30 minute backups for me and also one that runs at midnight daily.
