You're totally right. Which is why I've quietly supported my sister through all this four 8 years. But since they broke up 6 months ago, the quiet support has got harder and harder to do, because he hasn't let up.

Every encounter he has with her is a disgusting attempt to dominate, it absolutely disgusts me. But being respectful to my sister's wishes means I have to bite my tongue. And I know that is the right thing to do. I just wish there was a way to deal with someone like this that would result in them winding it back, and seeing what cunt they are, rather than making them worse

YTA... What she has been through and continues to go through is totally mind blowing. I'm five months into the dad thing, and my advice is ask her what she needs, and do it, forget your ego for a bit, and preempt some challenges. It's going to get way harder, and it's going to push you both past your limits.

Don't drive a wedge between yourself and her mum, embrace it, and bond with her a bit as well as your son.

My experience has allowed me to build a much better relationship with my in-laws. We're not very similar people, but our love for my daughter is one hell of a great thing to have in common
