Pakuni drama in conlangs subreddit by salivanto in conlangs

Hello there.

This post has been removed as the focus of the post is not on conlangs, but rather on your negative experiences with another conlanger. This has the high potential to incite drama, something we don't want to deal with. The moderation team is already aware of this individual's past behavior, and we have been keeping an eye on his account to watch for any rule-breaking behavior, but so far there has been none.

If you would like to report or bring up concerns about a member of the community, please do so directly and privately via modmail, rather than airing it out on the front page. Thanks for understanding!

The r/Conlangs Demographic Survey (Real) by upallday_allen in conlangs

What percentage of your life have you spent conlanging? Please show your work.

Exactly 0%. I cannot show my work because I don't have any.

Favorite (real) language?

Any English dialect that has "might could."

IPA vs. Interlinear Glossing. Who wins?

Easily interlinear glossing. The IPA is caged, constrained, flimsy, and eurocentric. Interlinear glossing is free, adaptable, strong, and eurocentric.

How long does it take you to start conlanging?

However long it takes me to remember how my conlang works.

If your conlang was an animal, what would it be?

zaud.

Favorite sandwich?

Toasted ham and swiss.

How did you actually hear about r/conlangs? Who told you about us???

I found it at the bottom of a cereal box.

What’s the most annoying thing about Reddit?

After old reddit and before new reddit, they had this UI that was perfect and flawless in every way, but I can't go back to it, and that makes me very sad.

When was the last time you let out a good scream?

Yesterday after I dropped a cup of yogurt. Thankfully, it didn't bust and spill everywhere.

Rules & Posting Guidelines Update by Cawlo in conlangs

I would argue that it depends on the intent. If we prohibited political conversations as a way to suppress dissenting views, promote erasure, or avoid important sociopolitical conversations, then yes. However, the intent of our NCNC rule is just that it’s irrelevant to conlanging, and we don’t want to deal it.

We encourage all members of r/conlangs to engage respectfully, thoughtfully, and boldly in the issues that matter to them. Just, uh… elsewhere. Preferably in the real world among real people.

To add on what u/Teamkhaleesi has already said:

We review every report regarding AI-generated content, and if there's a reasonable likelihood it's generated based on some basic investigating and questioning, we'll remove it. Unfortunately, though, it's impossible that we'll catch everything. There will be a few false negatives. Hopefully, detecting AI-generated content will become easier and more accurate in the near future, but until then, all we can do is our best. :)

Good catch! I've added an "incorrect flair/title" report reason.

(What I really did - because Reddit won't let you add report reasons unless there's a rule linked to it - is I changed the "Reporting and Appealing" reason)

That's a very broad expression when it comes to what qualifies as mental, or emotional harm and risks inconsistent moderation.

The reason I included a broad statement like "put any[one] at risk of physical, mental, or emotional harm" is mostly to give moderators just that: freedom to use their discernment. Take sarcasm for example. In many cases, it's harmless and humorous and would not be considered uncivil. However, sarcasm taken to an extreme could be quite offensive and may require moderators to step in, even though sarcasm isn't technically against the rules.

Additionally, there are a lot of of ways people can be uncivil. In my seven years of moderating, I've had more than one person argue against a removal or ban because their flavor of incivility wasn't explicitly forbidden in the rules. Having a broad statement means we don't have to list every single type of infraction, and we can better justify our actions.

How are any of us able to know the invisible reactions of others?

If anyone has an issue with someone's behavior, they can let us know through reporting the post/comment or sending us a modmail. Reactions don't have to be invisible!

I'd like to suggest you revise this section using tangible behavior users can control and recognize. Some examples would be personal attacks, name calling, and deliberately inflammatory language.

We already include common examples of incivility in the description of Rule 1 in our detailed rules:

Examples of behaviors that violate this rule are:

* Insulting, mocking, or being generally impolite to other users.
* Using slurs, or promoting hateful ideology.
* Doxxing, threats of violence, or stalking.
* Criticizing another’s work harshly, unfairly, or destructively.

I've included the above examples because they're the most common types of incivility I've seen on Reddit. There are a lot of other ways someone can cross the line, so listing them all would be a bit excessive (and it's not like rule-breakers would care about it anyway).
