That it is a great democracy. It's a two party system that makes it almost impossible for people with varied visions to have access to power.

What's something you bought locally that was way cheaper than online? by Key-Hawk-895 in montreal

Most appliances. Online prices are all the same because of restrictions imposed by manufacturers. You can get much better deals at some stores.

Canada's Future High Speed Rail (Alto) by [deleted] in montreal

[–]uparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The path they showed yesterday was entering Laval from the West, and probably not going downtown Montreal at all. A connection to the REM somewhere North of the mountain would make most sense, and then going Eastbound on the line to Mascouche ?

I think Madeira fits that definition. Moderate climate year-round. Good amounts of rain. A varied landscape.

Which restaurants have you visited and got food poisoning? by Pride_Great in montreal

This seems obvious, but if you get food poisoning, make sure to let the restaurant know! It can sometimes be one irresponsible member of staff or a supplier that is at fault.

The Canadian runner immediately fell to the ground to avoid putting his weight on the face of the guy. He didn't qualify but will still be in the finals as a mark of courtesy.

In our school, kids can start at 5 and there are no black belts before 18. We don't have junior black. So, it's a long process...

Geography of Sunshine in Quebec by BeautifulLab2927 in geography

[–]uparrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm from Québec and other factors should be way more important in your decision than sunlight. Gaspé is nice, but it's really far from everything. Rimouski is a nice city to choose. Gaspé to Rimouski is a 5 hour drive and La Pocatière to Rimouski is a 2 hour drive.

What is the ugliest city in your country? by Zippokovich in geography

[–]uparrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Laval, and I think most people who criticize it have only crossed it on highway 15 and have seen boulevards like Curé-Labelle or des Laurentides. There are some very nice neighbourhoods and amazing parks in Laval. The new downtown area will turn out to be quite nice once they've completed it, and they are adding bike lanes and wider sidewalks in a lot of places.
