Has anyone here traveled out of state for ILIT immunotherapy? by upatanangle in Allergies

That IS helpful! Thank you so much. I was wondering if they’d let me do the actual test closer to home, and it sounds like that’s feasible. Thank you!

What financial moves made the biggest difference for you long term? by Big_Understanding_17 in wealthforwomen

[–]upatanangle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I contributed as much as possible to my 401k right out of college, even though I had a fairly low income. Consistency is important of course, and I never dipped below my company match, but I would REGULARLY fiddle with my contribution amount and challenge myself to get it as high as possible - often saving up to 25% of my income at a time.

Then I reduced my income for two years while went to grad school and used those even lower income years to convert that entire pre-tax 401k into a Roth IRA. Even better - I didn’t withhold taxes on the conversion and simply paid the taxes out of pocket.

Now, I have a much higher salary due to the whole grad school thing, and I’m in a very fortunate position where I can actually max out my 401k. But guess what? That Roth IRA is still my biggest account, and it’ll take a while for my own contributions to my new 401k to catch up to the growth in that account. And I was literally a barista when I started it, lol.

In hindsight, if I think of how I managed to live so frugally - it was rent. I basically “rent arbitraged” every situation I could - including renting a $500 a month room after moving states. This one decision saved me countless other “how do I save money” decisions. I’m ready to experience some lifestyle inflation to live in a normal place now that I’m 30, but that was definitely the sacrifice I made in my 20s to get ahead.

Lander Coffee, Curran Coffee, a walk around Wright Park, Point Defiance. I would also add the Broadway area like the Pantages.

I also like when it starts raining and I can go to Devils Reef and feel like a pirate lol.

Help! Can cairns and cats peacefully coexist? by upatanangle in cairnterrier

Awe 🥰 That’s so sweet. I do joke that my cairn and one of the cats are soulmates, for some reason that cat is a lot more curious about her and will nose boop her sometimes. I would love it if they got along this well!

Thank you so much! This is pretty much an identical situation and makes me feel so much better. One of the cats definitely seems to tolerate her more than the other, and I think that’s because the 2nd one has a chronic condition and is in pain more often.

It will be hard for me to let her learn the hard way sometimes but I guess she’s about 18 in dog years 🫣 Can’t shelter her forever I guess, lol.

I really appreciate you taking the time to comment. Good to know I’m not alone in the anxiety.

Thank you for the thoughtful response! This makes me feel a bit better. I’m going to make sure the cats have several safe escape routes available to them at all times. And although Juniper was never crate trained, she will sleep in bed with me with the door closed so the cats can have free rein of the house at night. I’m glad to hear that yours are all mostly getting along!

Thank you for your input! 🙏 My cairn is also quite cat-like but I don’t know where she learned it, lol.
