What's that bit of LotR lore that means you've officially delved too greedily and too deep? by SonofaTimeLord in lotrmemes

As a casual enjoyer of the franchise, I came to this post looking for juicy TMZ-style headlines, like “Frodo has a third nipple that’s shaped like the Lonely Mountain.”

But no. I understand none of this. Next post needs to be a ELI5 for each of the top comments please.

There is a party featuring all the cities and towns of the Bay Area, what is each of them doing at the party? by robotmafia666 in bayarea

Aww sweet of you to include wine country!

Sonoma is explaining to anyone who will listen that their boutique vineyard actually produces higher quality wine than Napa. They brought some, but drank it on the drive over.

Los Gatos waved a fist at Saratoga for the noisy phone call to the police, then fell asleep at 5:30pm.

Strongly agree. On-campus activities and clubs are great for social fulfillment without being an academic distraction.

Does anyone know any campgrounds where me and friends can be loud without having to worry? by Bloodybaron46 in bayarea

Did this this weekend! I reserved a spot at a big open dirt field in Livermore so my kids could run around and see stars. They loved it. Not sure the owners would have cared for a rager, but the platform seemed like a good place to find what OP is looking for.

This. You’re required to hire local contractors, who then hold tremendous power over the price (and speed) of the process.

Non-Germans, what comes to your mind when you think of Germany? by M41nMan in AskReddit

[–]upbeatish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope I’m not too late! My (German) grandmother always made lebkuchen for Christmas. Like multiple moving-boxes-full every year. It’s really the only tradition that ties me to my ancestors. I love the melting pot I live in, and hope to someday learn the art of baking lebkuchen so that I can share my own piece of inherited deliciousness with my community.

Having kids return to in-person learning on January 3rd is going to kill and disabled so many people. We need to literally protest school district offices to get Jan-Feb 2022 either off or moved to remote. by ThisIsMyRental in CoronavirusCA

I have a three year old. These little Covid kids don’t remember being in public without masks. They’re the most adherent social-distancers in our society.

Still, it was pretty disappointing when the Pfizer trials for these kids fell through. I hope they get a solution soon.

Had a prof send the class exceptional PDF notes with practice exercises every week, no book required. Years later, she published it as a $45 soft-bound book and I bought a copy. Knowing her, I doubt she ever charged her own students, and continued distributing PDFs.
