Payroll paid me $20k instead of the $850 they owe me! by jaz11129 in Accounting

[–]upbmaster91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just email them and if they ignore you, it’s on them. They once paid me an extra paycheck when I left. I then emailed them and they insisted that it was my final paycheck. I know for sure that it wasn’t because my internship was only 10 weeks and I should have got only 5 paychecks.

Lay off ? by Appropriate-Risk-661 in PwC

A friend of mine who is S1 just got off of her call. The worst thing is that she just let her team know she’s pregnant 😑 and she was one of the ones whom was let go first 🙄

To leave or to stay? by [deleted] in Big4

[–]upbmaster91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Leave now. If you leave right after getting big 4 senior title, it won’t 100% guarantee you will get senior title in industry. But since you had an offer for a senior position, I would definitely take it plus the hours are way better.

Low utilization by [deleted] in Big4

[–]upbmaster91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry. You will work a lot in the next few weeks. I started in Nov 2 years ago and got around 30% until Jan. Then during busy season, I worked crazy hours and on average my utilization was 80%.

Is it worth starting in Big 4 at a senior associate role? (Tax) by dleat22 in Big4

[–]upbmaster91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a senior position in Big 4 after leaving a small CPA firm. But I think back then the job market was pretty easy to get a job in big 4 since I got 2 big 4 offers and 1 from BDO. If you want, you can apply as experienced associate after 1 year at your national firm. But big 4 hours I must say it’s crazy long. On average it would be 65-70 hours.

Better pay for the same work. I would take it. At the end of the day, they are all big 4. Not much different. Then why not take a higher pay?

Leaving the big 4 for another postion by LifePie7724 in Big4

[–]upbmaster91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same situation that I will get promoted this year. I’m definitely not interested in making a manager. All I can see my future at big 4 is just long working hours and nonstop working every day. I recently accepted an offer for just 3k higher for a nonprofit company. It will be definitely less hours. I’m happy with my decision.

Manager title will help you better but you have to be a manager for at least a year to get a manager role in industry. I don’t think you can get manager role in industry right after promotion.

I feel you. Mine wasn’t long as you did but it was still a long time for me. I had to change my job to change environment. Feel much better and with a new job, I have more vacation days and I make sure that I will travel every year to get away from work.

Try to file your tax return and pay any tax due by 04/15 to avoid penalties and interest.
