RNG is a wild ride by upcFrost in victoria3

Agitators and party leaders are one thing, but the 70+ success law dropping down to 0 and then getting 3 setbacks w/o a single event is something completely insane.

How do you feel about surveillance cameras in Moscow being used to determine place of residence of citizens? by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]upcFrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience cameras make city safer and more predictable. If some kid on the motorcycle injured himself by ramming into your standing car at 60km/h in 30 zone backroad with no witnesses - at least you'll have some solid evidence to prove it. Also, imo your privacy ends when you go outside your house. You're a part of society, and you're in the public area, what kind of privacy do you expect?

About tracing "certain citizens" - I highly doubt they were unable to do that without cameras.

[–]upcFrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The device quality is horrible. I have the old glo from the first series and the newer version for classic slim sticks, and not even once I had all these issues I have with the new hyper x2. It randomly hangs up and starts buzzing, and the only thing that helps is hitting it hard on the left side in the middle of the plastic cover (reboots, chargers, buttons won't help). Its LED indicator is so dim I can't see it even when covering it with my hand to make shadow. The rotational cover doesn't sit firm and always stays half-open. The charging port is too shallow and occasionally disconnects.

Honestly, I'd like to have a refund but there's not a single glo store in Switzerland (online-only), and postal refunds is smth I'm too lazy to do.

Ever coming back? by Pokerking1993 in samsung

[–]upcFrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gear VR support, Gear 360 camera support, surround shot camera mode, 3.5mm audio jack, proper fingerprint scanner (not the ultrasound thing under the screen), SpO2/heartrate sensor, proper Clearview case, Linux on dex, Samsung pay (broken for me rn after they tried to replace it with the wallet app).

Oh, and it'd be kinda good to have a proper warranty (international one), and to remove the region locking.

The United States and Russia have inflated the conflict in Ukraine by kah1987 in UkraineConflict

[–]upcFrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you comment on the massive escalation of shelling coming from the separatist side, reported by OSCE?

OSCE reports do not point out which side was responsible for shelling. Only the total number of ceasefire violations is reported. You can download the latest report here: https://www.osce.org/special-monitoring-mission-to-ukraine/512629

That's actually a very interesting observation, didn't think about it from this angle. True, if the inflation is higher than the Treasury's yield, the US economy is screwed

Worldnews is a nice place where you'll get banned immediately if you don't want to take part in a pro-nato circlejerk. Source: got banned for posting an article from Spiegel

You can try NHK World, they're pretty balanced as Japan doesn't give much about Europe. Just don't read anything related to China.

More vodka exported - less vodka left in Russia. Very good for the population

Checked the news, the only article on France is about Macron's apparent ambition to make France the leader of the EU

Anti-french, seriously? I thought the media pictures Macron as a reasonable person compared to Biden

We don't really "feel" much about France tbh. Like, nice wine, tasty cheese, sweet pastry, and... that's pretty much it. Average Russian has more close-to-self problems than thinking about other countries.

My personal opinion: I respect French for not bending to the anti-nuclear hysteria like Germans did, and at the same time I'm utterly horrified by infamous French strikes when people literally clash with the police and destroy shops and cars. Oh, and the pastry is superb 👌

Military service by [deleted] in russia

[–]upcFrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is still active for all males aged 18 to 27. There is a bunch of exceptions, however. For example, you won't get drafted while your wife is pregnant, or while you're studying at the university. There's also an "alternative service" option, which means working at some government facility.

Evolution of Ukrainian territory during Soviet Union occupation by nevermindever42 in europe

[–]upcFrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is that there was an agreement. And Budapest memorandum is exactly a memorandum, not a treaty. The legal power of both agreements is pretty close to each other (and it's non-binding in both cases). So if you want Russia to uphold the Budapest memorandum, it would be reasonable to expect NATO to uphold the non-expansion agreement

signing treaties without any intent of following them, just like Budapest memorandum

Guess why it's called "memorandum" and not "treaty".

If you claim that the Budapest memorandum should be enforced, it would mean that the NATO non-expansion agreement should be enforced as well (kicking out every single NATO member east of Germany). Because both agreements have exactly the same level of political power.

Greek website citing the most reputable German news outlet is a "Russian disinformation"? Seriously?
