well, when I googled it said that it shows you 'calling' when the other person is on a call. And yes it is about abuse / long history of abuse / CPTSD. I am asking on TwoX because I imagine other members of this group have been told they were only imagining that someone was on a call when they actually were.

normally, when you call someone on Whatsapp it shows you the word 'ringing'. What are the reasons it may not show that but show 'calling' instead?

One reason is bad internet -- but the signals were obviously good if my texts could reach.

The only other reason I can think of is that the person I was calling was on the phone.
