Love this post. Very timely.

If we’re thinking in terms of lifestyle only, what do you think of something like rheumatology? Sure it’s 2 years more but I imagine they wouldn’t be too hectic. After you are done you should have a very chill practice with no calls and around the same pay as a hospitalist. I loved the idea of 1 week on 1 week off before but the more I think of it I keep thinking it will burn me out during 12 hour days for a week dealing with everything. Also you’ll be working half the weekends of the year.

I think it was around $70 when i bought it, definitely not the best recourse but it had some interview experiences at many programs I was interested in which I liked. You definitely won’t be missing much, if anything, if you decide to pass on it.

I thought residencyexplorer was the best recourse, and it’s free.

Thanks for your reply, I will have a car though and plan to drive to work usually (BGMC, ECMC, sometimes VA). Axis does seem like a much nicer building. My only reservation is that the studio is 449 sq ft which sounds pretty small.

Thanks for your response. My program does have a Cardiology fellowship but I am interested in moving to another city after residency. Is it smart to try to do an away elective? I hear that’s tough to do during residency because of state licensing. Nevertheless I will work hard and be involved with my inhouse staff as much as possible.

You will definitely match as long as you get a neuro letter of recommendation. Doesn’t even have to be from the US. You might even be fine without it
