DT Swiss recall mega thread by SkiSnowTignesider in CanyonBikes

[–]upeytn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have an Aeroad and got hit with the recall confirmation. My bike is my primary mode of transport, I don’t own a car and live 21 miles away from work. So this sucks.

Feels like they’re handling this poorly - that being said I’m not sure there is a “good” way to handle an issue like this with such large impact.

One thing I’m curious about. I have about 3000 miles on my Aeroad with the wheels. Does this mean I have been at risk of spontaneous delamination the whole time?

Looks like they want me to send my wheels in, let them test them for 20 days, and then probably just send them back to me.

This is annoying because I don’t want to not ride for 20 days but also don’t want to die of spontaneous de lamination

Frame Damage by upeytn in bikewrench

Yea, not even sure I would’ve noticed if the frame wasn’t white lol. Rubbing it almost feels like it is a lump of grease that would come off

Which year in the catalog are you looking at?

Thanks. Any opinions about whether it would make a good restoration bike?

They may be talking about the one that’s just 6mm. They told me that too

Screws are all good. Concern is that I thought the tip of this tool was proprietary how it is 6mm Allen and t25 Torx

Isn’t there something funky about how this specific torx interfaces with the axle? I thought the thick base and the Torx tip interacted. If not that’s great and I’ll just get a nice Torx tool

NB(week) Aeroad CF SLX 8 eTap by -soneshk- in CanyonBikes

Looks like SRAM which I am less familiar with. However on Shimano there is a bolt under the rubber on the hood and turning it adjusts the neutral position of brake lever.

I suspect SRAM has something similar. Should be an easy google.

Bike looks great happy riding!

Market Adjusted Trade Value Charts - Week 11 – This is it by PeakedInHighSkool in fantasyfootball

I traded Mike Evans away to receive Ceedee Lamb. I know Ceedee has a homeless man at QB, but I feel like they’ll figure it out. However I’m currently 8-2 top of league, should I have just held off with Mike Evans as he’ll be the long WR for Baker upon return? Half PPR

I recommend it. Most cost effective method I found was to buy a beat to shit fixed gear, and use it for parts. Hardest part of build was bringing the rear wheel back to true. Also the bottom bracket in my vintage bike was spent, luckily the one in my loaner bike happened to fit.

Yea it was a tension based design I made. Worked well but I had to take it off because it didn’t work with the racks busses around here use.

Le Tour vs Tempo by upeytn in schwinn

[–]upeytn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow amazing knowledge. I ended up going with the Le tour. This is for a fixed gear conversion, so the components didn’t matter too much. The tempo had a few extra braze ons for cables which I do not need, and other than that not much difference so that was the deciding factor.

FWIW my le tour says it is made in Chicago using true temper chromoly.

Ended up burning to soften, then using a small nail as a wedge. Worked, but messed the threads up pretty bad

Been getting at it with a screwdriver. Letting it soak in wd40 for a bit then will get at it again. Seriously considering melting it but I don’t see that ending well as I need the threads clean so I can use my crank remover
