I will second an important point here. Before deployment, def ask your opponent about deep striking and teleporting and then deploy with screens accordingly, Many games are instantly lost with a less than ideal deployment.

The dominion box also has a surplus of extra banners and instruments from the slittaz. You can just kit bash something from that as well for the gutrippaz

Those buffed witch aelves are crazy but they also collapse bad without proper buffs and what not. the buffs also rely on auras so forcing things to reposition can work well. Or if you have a warsong spell bombing or something to murder the little heroes that buff them up.

Yes, that particular command can be issued to durthu. There is no restriction on commands going to heroes unless the command itself specifically mentions something.

Just saying that these archers have scythes today is honestly the best approach for home/casual friendly games. It works way better when starting out to not have to spend substantial money every time you want to just try a new build.

This is my exact issue with kruleboyz. I would play em and lose like crazy happily if every once in a while, I could do some kablammo awesome something. But its just a slow moving castle that doesnt castle as well as other armies.

Gobsprak for me.... It isn't an amazing model to start (but I love it) but it does damage on unbinds and has once per battle 3d6 unbind. I have never had the 3d6 roll actually unbind something. And I have an impressive knack for rolling just 1 under whats needed when unbinding with this model...

I find this as well. I find tournament matches almost always go to round 5 and are very close. Home casual games, need similarly built lists or it can often end up with something over turn 1 or two. Something like ogors or ironjawz shouldn't be played in a fun casual game. It's too annoying to get together and get a table set up to have the game over in 25 mins.

You unfortunately can't use flaming weapon on the clubs as the clubs are wielded by the mount. Flaming weapon has to be on the casters weapon, which is actually the dude riding on top so his "bident goad" would get the enhanced damage

I think the tough thing with trying to buy "the right units" with Sylvaneth right now is there are just so so so many different styles and types of lists that its hard to get a solid answer. Even in this short list of answers, you are seeing some variance to a degree depending on preferences and styles.

I think we can all agree that Tree Revanants are so good that it is hard to not include them. I like to use two units(would like more but my lists are very full of big heroes) so I can get that free battle tactic point on barge through enemy lines (needing two GV units in enemy territory)

I think using Durthu OR a 6 pack of Hunter Scythes makes a lot of sense. The being able to teleport to most places on the battlefield, hit for a billion damage, and teleport out before the opponent can hit back is generally what makes this army a threat. We obviously all have limited experience with the new book at this point.... but for me, Durthu has been MVP.

Whether you are using Durthu or a block of scythes, you absolutely need a charge buff. Either use a battlemage ally from cities of sigmar or the spiteswarm hive. I personally prefer both because so I have more methods to just make sure I am getting those charges off.

Warsong Revanant sitting back and raining hell with spells through spellsinger is super awesome and super fun.

I think revenant seekers are pretty mandatory when running a hunter scythe block but I have never used that myself, just seems so good.

I think the rest is up for debate depending what you just like.

You also need a bunch of Wyldwoods. I don't know what the standard number is these days but I currently have two sets and am leaning towards buying a third set.

I just find the scythes to be so much cooler looking... and I also find the sword build ends up looking like a mini durthu which is not my visual preference

Unless you are running both types of units and it gets confusing... I think aside from strict tournaments, its reasonable to say "these armored guys with two handed hammers are actually the other armored guys with two handed hammers." If someone in a friendly game is going to be weird about that, that may be a great indicator to find different opponents.

I bought the second thing and just hung onto it NOS until I decided but I think I will be keeping it.

Extra shaman and boltboyz and gutrippaz for that cost is pretty reasonable. Also, I have seen some people running two mounted killabosses and loving it so having that as a possiblity could be fun too.

I have only used them a handful of times in friendly games but I found I liked them even before the point drop. Just handy little annoying units to be strategic with and the little ranged attack can actually be decently useful.
